⋯ The seabirds that the Costa Brava Landfill attracts pose risks for aviation, given the landfill's close proximity to Beirut Airport. Ultrasonic bird repellers were installed, but this method failed in 2017 when the birds grew resistant. Middle East Airlines had then resorted to drastic measures, hiring 125 hunters to kill over 10,000 seagulls.

Presently, there are reportedly 14 ultrasonic devices, but Mohammad al-Hout, director general of Middle East Airlines, has threatened to repeat the killing spree, unless the interior minister takes steps to eliminate the aviation hazard.

The Ministry of Energy needs cash to settle several energy imports

In a press conference, the Minister of Energy Walid Fayyad revealed that the state has accumulated ‘delay fines’ worth nearly $1 million for failing to pay for and unload the cargo of 4 gas and fuel-oil ships moored to Lebanon's coast. The ships belong to the company Vitol.

The minister's solution to the electricity crisis requires approval by the Prime Minister of a treasury advance of $62 million to empty the vessels and $75 million for future vessels, in addition to maintenance costs worth $54 million.

A shortage of depressant drugs has been reported in many Lebanese pharmacies.

The Pharmaceutical Importers Syndicate claims there is no importing crisis and that there are enough depressant drugs in warehouses.
👍2
⋯ Sources argue that the problem lies in the pharmacies themselves: Either they are unable to buy these medications in bulk because of the high-costs, which explains why there are less shortages in larger pharmacies compared to smaller ones,

Sayyed Nasrallah about Martyr Soleimani:

“The martyrs create inspiration with their sacrifices, and some of them affect their homelands, and those far from their homelands, and some of them affect the [Islamic] nation and the history of mankind.

“Hajj Qassem Soleimani is a martyr who transcended space and time, he is the martyr of the [Islamic] nation, or rather, the martyr of the world. He had a great ability to inspire future generations.”

⋯ “We need in every generation examples like these martyrs. They are present in all arenas, and their names and sayings must be revived to be preserved by generations because they constitute a very huge intellectual and spiritual wealth that should not be underestimated.

“The forms in which we remember the martyrs differ, and we must take advantage of all these forms so that their names, biographies and images remain present in the minds and in the conscience to inspire the spirit of launching in the generations.

“I thank the Asfar Association for their efforts, hard work, and sincerity in this competition, and for all those who fund, and thanks to all the poets and writers who participate in this competition. This work is valuable and of a high degree of perfection.”

Sayyed Nasrallah on the presidential election:

“We understand that religious authorities are putting political and media pressure on the political forces represented in the Parliament in order to speed up the presidential election, but we must pay attention to avoid sectarian incitement.

“None of the allies or opponents have any intention, and I am certain that there is no intention of any bloc in Lebanon to deliberately obscure the first Maronite position [Lebanon's presidency], and everyone wants to elect a president, end this vacuum, and return to normal.

“The truth is that the Parliament says that voting must be in a specific form and the number of votes is specified. No one has the majority to ensure victory in the first round to deliver the character he sees appropriate to save Lebanon.”
