🐍 Lebanese from Zionist family exiled in Israel crosses into Lebanon

Last Sunday, and in the 2nd incident in a week, the Lebanese Army Intelligence detained a man from Israel who entered Lebanese territory via the village of Kfarkela.

Of Lebanese origin, the man had taken refuge in Israel with his spy of a father after the liberation of South Lebanon. In 2007, he had already crossed into Lebanon, before returning to Israel.

The IDF admits the man was not identified due to human error and technical malfunctions as a result of poor weather conditions. Talks are being held via the UNIFIL for his release.

⋯ Elie Lahoud has founded a Christian pro-Hezbullah movement, ‘Resist’. He has gone on record to say that LF leader Samir Geagea should have been executed rather than imprisoned for his crimes.

Lahoud was in financial trouble, but friends and family allegedly said that he wouldn't have committed suicide. The mayor of Mtayleb, Paul Chedid, speaking to Annahar, revealed that according to CCTV, Lahoud arrived alone to the church, lit a candle, and entered the baptismal room. After leaving it, he began walking inside the church right and left, until he chose a corner where he sat, which is not visible on CCTV, to be found later a bloodied corpse.

⋯ The mayor of Mtayleb published the CCTV footage of the late Elie Lahoud.

It confirms that Elie Lahoud was wandering alone in the empty church, acting in a strange way, such as kissing the church door (01:01) and heading left and right. A security source to MTV said that no items were missing or scattered; the forensic doctor Malek Hilal confirmed there was no trace of violence.

It remains to be known why he committed suicide.

Lebanese alarmed by earthquake warnings on TV and WhatsApp 😨

Yesterday, Ata Richard Elias, a professor of geophysics at the Lebanese University, suggested that Lebanon could disappear off the map in a quake, but noted that this is “nothing new”. (Watch)

Today, Marleine Brax, Director of the National Center for Geophysics, sounded the alarm when she called for readiness: “We have recorded 11 quakes in the past 4/5 days... I have prepared a bag with my passport, money, valuables”. (Watch)

We need to fully quote these statements—because false info has spread on WhatsApp.

“M4.2 earthquakes don't happen often here”

Marleine Brax was asked on OTV (9 Feb) about yesterday's earthquake in Hermel: “Yesterday, there was a bit of commotion after what you said... is it true that things are abnormal?

Brax replied: «Correct, I said it. In about 4 or 5 days, we’ve recorded 11 earthquakes in Lebanon. The largest one was yesterday’s at 9:00pm. A quake with a magnitude of 4.2, this doesn’t happen often here. That’s why we stay on alert for the next 24-48 hours.

«Panicking isn’t beneficial. Citizens are asked to do what they can... I’ll tell you what I did: I have prepared a bag containing a passport, money, my valuables, medications, and put it next to the door. If any earthquake happened, if I start to feel it, I need to go to the safest place. I can easily go out to the street, but if my house were an apartment, I go to the stairway, and protect myself. This is the maximum that citizens can do. This bag should always be ready.»

“No direct relationship with the Turkish earthquake”

Professor of geology at AUB, Dr. Tony Nemer, weighed in and said there is no direct connection between Lebanon's fault lines and the Turkish earthquake, because “ground pressures on the faults do not expand very quickly”.
