😳 This afternoon, Lebanese youths snatched a magazine of cartridges from the rifle of an Israeli army major, during a stampede that took place on Lebanon's border in the area of Hula.

IDF tweeted about the incident, which happened “on the Lebanese side of the Blue Line”. According to Lebanon24, a hostile Israeli force breached the Blue Line, but Lebanese civilian youths were on the lookout there. There was a stampede, after which one of the youths managed to snatch a magazine. Immediately, a UNIFIL occupation force came to the place to “calm the situation”.

The Secretary-General of Hezbullah, his Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, will deliver a speech later today during the Islamic Institution for Learning and Education, Al-Mahdi School's 30th Anniversary ceremony.

The ceremony will commence at 14:30 Beirut time.

🔴Today—Sayyed Nasrallah:

👉Imagine that
#Palestine today neighbors #Lebanon without ‘israel’, this is not a dream rather a coming truth.

👉What is taking place in the occupied
#Palestine is historic and very important; there is a dominating sense within the ‘israeli’ entity that the internal and external division will lead to the annihilation.

👉The ‘israelis’ fear a third annihilation of their entity; and what is happening there brings big hopes in which what is happening to the ‘israeli’ entity is attributed to the defiance and resistance in the region.

👉
#Normalizing with certain countries doesn’t protect the ‘israeli’ entity and won’t stop the Palestinian operations; the significant transformation today is that within ‘israel’ today there is fear of something similar to what happened on May 25th, 2000 in South #Lebanon.

👉What is happening today in the
#WestBank and the 1948 lands is of a high level of importance for the project of Resistance.

👉Today’s priority is to extend the hand of help to the resisting Palestinians who are pushing this entity to the abyss.

Lebanese Foreign Minister praised China-mediated Iran-Saudi détente

Lebanese Minister Abdullah Bouhabib welcomed the Chinese-Saudi-Iranian agreement, noting it will have a “positive impact” on the region, since Lebanon has always paid the price of regional differences.

After talks in Beijing since 6 March, the top national security advisers of Iran & Saudi Arabia—Ali Shamkhani and Musaad Al-Aiban respectively—have agreed to resume diplomatic relations within two months. They also agreed to implement the security cooperation agreement of April 2001, and to carry out the agreement on economic, mercantile, investment, technical, scientific, cultural, and sports cooperation of May 1998. (Tasnim)

Relations were severed in 2016 when Iranian protesters attacked the Saudi embassy after Shiite cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr was executed in KSA. The death in Sept 2015 of hundreds of Iranian Hajj pilgrims in a deadly crush and the war on Yemen had prepared the ground for it.

⋯ PSP leader Walid Joumblatt tweeted:

“China's mediation for the normalization of relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran is an achievement that helps in relieving the tensions in eastern Arabia, meanwhile inside Lebanon, it implies the important role of the PSP because the party historically has a big branch in China behind the Great Wall protected by the Chinese Lion under the guise of the Druze dragon.”

Walid Joumblatt is the leader of the Druze-majority Progressive Socialist Party (PSP).

“The greatest Arabic and Islamic need, and the biggest regional necessity, and a step that shortens a thousand steps.”

⋯ FPM leader Gebran Bassil tweeted:

“What was necessary has finally happened: the agreement between Saudi Arabia and Iran, and soon Syria. This will lead to a wave of stability throughout the region including Lebanon; God save us from [Lebanese] vandals [thieves, saboteurs]... But no solution to our crises will come from outside if we do not take the initiative at home to develop solutions without holding grudges and obstructing.” (...)

Gebran Bassil is the leader of the Free Patriotic Movement (FPM).

⋯ Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal al-Saud to Al-Arabiya: “Lebanon needs a Lebanese rapprochement not an Iranian-Saudi rapprochement.”

His remark relates to the presidential election deadlock, and echoes what Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Gebran Bassil have said recently.

⋯ Ashraf Rifi (Saudi-aligned) tweeted:

“The restoration of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran in accordance with the pledge of non-interference can be a real start in the region, if the mullahs are convinced that the policy of imposing guardianship over states through the construction of militias and shaking stability has fallen irretrievably. (...) We hope that the date of 10/03/2023 will be the end of the Iranian adventure that ruined the region.”

Rifi was the chief of the Internal Security Forces in 2005–2013. He broke ranks with Hariri in 2016—ousting his party from Tripoli—in a bid to win over Sunni politics. Staunchly anti-Hezbullah, he ‘allied’ with Geagea in Tripoli to win the seat of (outgoing) Mikati last year. His brother got a 10-year prison sentence in absentia for spying for Israel.

⋯ Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said today that there is a “glimmer of hope”.

“Yes, we were sure that the will of convergence and consensus must be victorious, ‘and do not dispute with one another, or you would be discouraged and weakened’ [Quran 8:46]. (...) I congratulate KSA, IRI, and the leaders of the two countries for completing this historic, strategic agreement.”

He concluded: “We renew the sincere call to all political forces in Lebanon to quickly take the initiative to converge on controversial issues and achieve our constitutional duties, foremost of which is the election of a president of the Republic (...) to prove our brothers that we have reached the age of national maturity and are truly sovereign and worthy of Lebanon.”
