The Israeli security forces and the security cabinet continues to enforce a strict gag order on a security incident that took place in northern Israel.

What was reported in the past 48 hours:

1- An IED attack on a vehicle
2- An alleged arrest of Lebanese with weapons
⋯ While the arrest of Lebanese men was not confirmed by either sides, the matter could be kept behind closed doors due to its repercussions.

Israeli military reporters alleged that the IED was of different design than the ones being used in the West Bank.

No real faction claimed the attack.

⋯ According to the PM's office, PM Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant held a security assessment to address the recent security developments in the north.

However, they did not specify the incidents due to security concerns amid ongoing investigations. The political echelon insists the events remain under the current media blackout, despite the Israeli Army wanting the details released.

This divide has prompted intel briefings for 24 hours at the “Kirya” (IDF's headquarters in Tel Aviv), and the unusual message from the Minister of Defense.

🚨 PM Netanyahu will return to Israel earlier than expected to handle this pressing case.

“The terrorist was found in possession of weapons, including an explosive belt ready to be activated and additional means. The assumption is that due to the neutralization, an additional terror attack was prevented.

“An initial inquiry suggests that the terrorist is presumed to have crossed from Lebanon into Israeli territory earlier this week. It was additionally revealed that after the terror attack adjacent to the Megiddo Junction, the terrorist stopped a vehicle and asked for a ride.

“The terror attack is under extensive review, in which the possibility of the involvement of the Hezbollah terrorist army is also under review.”

🗓 20 years ago, Rachel Corrie was killed by Israel

On this day in 2003, the 23-year-old US citizen, anti-war activist Rachel Corrie was crushed to death by an armored D9 bulldozer of the Israeli army. She was undertaking non-violent direct action to try to stop the Israeli demolition of a Palestinian family home in Rafah (Gaza Strip).

While witnesses said she was deliberately crushed, the IDF ruled an accident. In 2005, Rachel's parents sued Israel for a symbolic $1 in damages. The Israeli juge rejected their suit in 2012, ruling “an accident she brought upon herself”. An appeal was lost in the Israeli Supreme Court in 2015. Cindy Corrie, the mother, called the Israeli court system “a well heeled system” to ensure the occupation's impunity. Twenty years on, there is still no accountability.

A generous offer in Tripoli, North Lebanon! “A French fries sandwich for 20k liras no matter how the exchange rate changes. For anyone too poor to afford it, they can have it for free if they bless the prophet PBUH”

With the Lira's rapid depreciation, the sandwich is now worth $0.18. Yet, all ingredients became expensive: a bag of bread is about 40,000 LL ($0.37), 5L of oil is over 1 million ($9.35). The generous offer happens while Muslims are anticipating the holy month of Ramadan.

⋯ For perspective, plain kaak sells for 70,000 LL.

It's a pita bread that's harder and thicker than the usual pita. They used to be one of the cheapest food options. It was a common street food, now it's less common. An Al-Manar news segment said that, while the average place sells them for 70,000, people said it's totally unaffordable.
