FPM protests against EU interference on the refugee issue
Members of the Free Patriotic Movement (FPM) distributed leaflets warning of the Western conspiracy to settle the Syrian refugees in Lebanon, reports Al-Mada.
Under the slogan “because the Syrian displacement has become a threat to our existence and a blow to the Lebanese identity”, the youth committee of the FPM in the district of Matn urged its supporters to come protest today, 18:30, in front of the EU Mission Center in Beirut. They voiced “no” to the European Parliament's resolution on July 13 not to repatriate the Syrian refugees, and ”no” to their integration in Lebanon.
Opposition parties Kataeb and Lebanese Forces have also voiced strong dissatisfaction with the European Parliament's resolution, that was adopted in an overwhelming vote backed by right-wing EPP (European People's Party), a party they are now threatening to suspend membership in.
