Official: The commander of the Nahal Infantry Brigade, Col. Yonatan Steinberg, was killed this morning during clashes with Hamas fighters in the Kerem Shalom area.

The Nahal Brigade is one of the main infantry brigades in IDF.

According to Israeli estimates, there are about 100 Israeli prisoners in Gaza, including settlers, soldiers and officers.

At least 3 members of the Yamam Special Forces unit were reportedly injured by Hamas gunfire in Ofakim.

Yamam, also known as Israel's National Counter Terror Unit, is one of four special units of the Israel Border Police. They specialize in hostage-rescue and offensive take-over raids against hostile targets in civilian areas.

🚨 Al-Quds Brigades' Naval Unit storms Zikim military base and clashes with occupation forces.

Occupation warplanes continue to bomb civilian areas all throughout the Gaza strip. Numerous casualties reported.

Former head of the Mossad to CNN:

“We did not receive any warning of any kind, and what happened today was a complete surprise.”

“We did not know that they had this number of missiles and we did not expect them to be as effective as they are today. More than 3,000 missiles have been launched from Gaza so far, and this is beyond imagination.”

Rocket barrages continue to rain on settlements near the Gaza strip, with the latest impact being reported in Sderot. Meanwhile, the occupation continues to conduct violent air raids, almost exclusively targeting residential buildings throughout Gaza. Over a dozen have been martyred as a result.

Neither seem keen on ceasing their attacks during the next few hours.

Israeli media: 22 hours after the start of the event, there are still Palestinian resistance fighters roaming the settlements around the Gaza Strip.

🚨 IDF says it is carrying out artillery strikes in Lebanon after mortars were fired toward the Israeli-occupied Lebanese Shebaa Farms. This area is designated in Israel as Mount Dov.

“Permission [to fight] has been granted to those who are being fought, because they were wronged, and indeed Allah is capable of granting them victory.

“On the path to liberate the remaining part of our occupied Lebanese land and in solidarity with the victorious Palestinian resistance and the steadfast and heroic Palestinian people, the groups of the martyr commander Hajj Imad Mughniyeh in the Islamic Resistance carried out an attack this Sunday, on October 8, 2023, targeting three Zionist occupation sites in the occupied Lebanese Shebaa Farms region. These sites include the radar site, Zabdin site, and Ruwaisat site, using a significant number of artillery shells and guided missiles, resulting in direct hits on these sites. Victory comes only from Allah, the Almighty, the Wise.”

🚨 IDF says it destroyed Hezbullah's tent in the Shebaa Farms.

Israel was threatening to remove it by force for months. Two tents were set up in April 2023 north of the technical border fence but 30 meters south of the Blue Line. For context, the Shebaa Farms were annexed by Israel in 1981. Read more.
