🗞️ IDF short on manpower, changes rules to increase serving time and number of connoscripts

Currently, Israeli male recruits serve 32 months, while women serve for 24 months.

Under the planned changes, female soldiers in combat and other special roles will also serve for 36 months.

Additionally, soldiers can bow out at 40, officers at 45, and special roles, including positions like drivers, at 49.

Under the IDF's plans, the age of retirement from reserve duty for soldiers would increase to 45, officers to 50, and special roles to 52.

According to plans, soldiers, who are currently required to serve 54 days in reserves within three years, will serve instead 42 days per year; commanders who are not officers, who serve 70 days within three years, will serve 48 days a year; and officers, who serve 84 days within three years, will serve 55 days a year.

The IDF also plans to increase the number of days in a row reservists serve in "operational activity," from 25 days to 40 a year.

Amid the war in the Gaza Strip, the IDF has called up a total of 287,000 reservists, many of which have been released from duty.

Yet despite being the largest-ever call-up of reservists in Israel's history, it's not enough manpower to fight in Gaza and be ready to fight in Lebanon.

⚠️ In part of the emergency preparations at hospital in Northern Israel, that have been ongoing for weeks now, the hospitals have been asked to set up additional helipads for use during a war with Lebanon.

Evidently, one won't be enough per hospital if a war happens in Lebanon.

🗞️ In a statement tonight, Netanyahu says they are close to a complete decisive victory in Gaza.

He adds that they defeated 18 out of 24 Hamas sectors, and that leaving any undefeated and ending the war means the new 7-October is just a matter of months.

He adds that the war cannot end with Hamas still existing, claiming he told this to the US secretary of state.

He adds that Israel rejects the Hamas proposal for ending the war and releasing prisoners.

He continues to repeat that there should not be a Hamas anymore, and they have already started to find ways to replace the UNRWA.

🗞️ Israeli army chief of staff visited Northern Gaza and claimed that the Israeli army is operating to create pressure that will help the political echelon's goals.

He adds that the ultimate goal is to return the hostages through this pressure.
