Regarding the fake news about certain political parties buying buildings and houses in the areas most affected by the Beirut blast for "demographic changes", this is not accurate at all and secterian propaganda by some secterian accounts here.

This is exactly what is happening:

Since the collapse of the banks in Lebanon, Real estate and construction owners lost access to their dollars in the bank; them aside, all rich investors too.

Therefore in order to compensate for that, they have been buying land and properties for months using Chèque de banque

This allows them to send money from their bank accounts to other bank accounts, as they are unable to withdraw their money

This has been going on for months, and what's happening in Beirut is simply the continuation of this. Nothing shady or political or secterian is happening.

Lebanon's Civil war was a fight over power, and when it ended the civil war parties distributed the power over secterian basis and since that day Lebanon's top positions have been distributed for 1/2 between Christians and for 1/2 between Muslims; between 18 sects.

Since that day, the secterian polarization of the Lebanese increased, not decreased leading to the regretful hate we see today between Lebanese. That aside, this distribution of power, although unfair due to the Lebanese demographics, have led to mismanagement and nepotism.

What used to happen is that people were not chosen on basis of merit, but rather on the basis of ensuring equal secterian representation in the gov, army, and jobs.

This along with political parties being those war lords and those controlling the sects, Lebanon collapsed.

This all enabled secterian protected corruption.

Therefore the only true path of reform would be to end this secterian system by ending the secterian distribution of power and creating a parliament based on true representation of the Lebanese outside the label of religion

This is what democracy is supposed to mean, true representation and the rule of the majority

Political parties are in the core of this understanding and are not alien to it. However the issue here is not simply that the secterian political people don't want this, it's the people

As many know, Hezbullah got the most votes in the last elections but got only 12 seats while others got 1/2 his votes and twice his seats

This for example is an undemocratic political process, regardless of what we consider Hezbullah. They got those votes but it didn't translate

To anything. Getting those votes or getting 1/3 of them would have given it the same result. This is fake representation and takes away the core of democracy.

Yet again, the system can not change if people do not push for that.

Take example of this tweet, Hezbullah will get most votes during a voting process but this is going to be bad and would «f*ck» us.

Aside from this common consensus between Lebanese, it's the same in the mindset of the political parties.
