The IDF will stay in some areas of southern Lebanon beyond day 60 of the ceasefire agreement, the Prime Minister's Office says.

In a statement, the PMO says that the military's gradual withdrawal from south Lebanon is "supposed to" take place within 60 days, but according to the text of the agreement, could last longer.

"The IDF's withdrawal process is conditional on the Lebanese army deploying in southern Lebanon and fully and effectively enforcing the agreement, while  Hezbollah withdraws beyond the Litani River," the PMO says.

"Since the ceasefire agreement has not yet been fully enforced by the state of Lebanon, the gradual withdrawal process will continue, in full coordination with the United States," the statement adds.

The IDF is currently deployed to several villages in southern Lebanon, mostly in the eastern sector. The Lebanese Armed Forces have been deploying to villages in the western sector in recent weeks as the IDF has withdrawn.

For 4 months that IDF has been bulldozing the border towns...non-stop

What is the extra time needed? To bulldoze new towns that they didn't enter during the war not during the ceasefire?

The Lebanese army, the Lebanese president, the PM, and the ceasefire committee should issue a statement asap. Being complicit is unacceptable. This should be treated as a crisis and an emergency.

Two Frenchmen were also arrested after being suspected of taking pictures in Haret Hreik.

With the expiry of the sixty-day period following the ceasefire, the army command calls on residents to wait before heading towards the southern border areas, due to the presence of mines and suspicious objects left behind by the Israeli enemy.

We stresses the importance of citizens being responsible and adhering to the directives of the army command and the instructions of the deployed military units, in order to preserve their safety.

In this context, the military units are constantly working to complete the engineering survey, open roads, and deal with unexploded ordnance, and are closely monitoring the operational situation, especially in terms of the ongoing violations of the agreement and attacks on Lebanon's sovereignty, in addition to the destruction of infrastructure and the demolition and burning of homes in the border villages by the Israeli enemy.

The army also continues to implement the plan for operations to enhance deployment in the South Litani region, commissioned by the Council of Ministers, since the first day of the ceasefire agreement entering into force, according to successive and specific stages, in coordination with the five-member committee supervising the implementation of the agreement (Mechanism) and the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon - UNIFIL.

There has been a delay in a number of stages as a result of the procrastination in the withdrawal by the Israeli enemy, which complicates the task of the army's deployment, noting that it maintains readiness to complete its deployment immediately after the Israeli enemy withdraws.
