On this day in the year 1979, Israel's Mossad assassinated the famous PLO commander Ali Hasan Alami in Beirut using a car bomb.

He was killed along with 4 of his bodyguards and 4 civilians.

His funeral was attended by thousands, including his wife Gorgina Rizk. Gorgina is the Lebanese Miss world beauty Queen.
