Israeli army officers held coordination talks with their counterparts in the US Central Command for cooperation between the two armies against the backdrop of possible Iranian retaliation. They coordinated joint activities to monitor and identify the launch of missiles and rockets towards Israel and towards American targets in the Middle East.

The Ministry of Health: 22 deaths and 1,842 new COVID-19 cases in Lebanon.

The international (video) conference in support of the Lebanese people opens. The host, French President Macron, says a fund managed by the World Bank is to be set to provide humanitarian support to Lebanon. (Report by @ZeinakhodrAljaz)

Due to the failure to form a government, the support will go to western and locally funded NGOs and not the Lebanese regime apparatuses.

This will deepen the people's reliance on those NGOs and weaken the system further. Besides, it will not ensure a fair aid distribution.

Remarks:

Macron says Lebanese politicians must form a government to enable reforms otherwise no international help - he says he will return to Lebanon this month to pressure politicians.

Macron: this conference will allow to complete the emergency response - it can’t replace forming Govt as soon as possible to implement roadmap for reforms without which intl economic aid can’t be triggered.

I have called on the Lebanese to rise together and raise their voice in the right place to pressure where it is necessary, to win our battle against corruption... This is a fateful battle for Lebanon!

MP Ali Fayyad: There is a lack of transparency in the information provided by the representative of the Banque du Liban on some numbers.

The representative informed the MPs that the bank does not know the amount of gold present, and the last time they countrd it was in 1996.

Lebanon is the second country in the world in gold reserves per capita with 69.3 grams for each citizen.
