Just read through this book, the Atlantis Blueprint by Colin Wilson and Rand Flem-Ath.

They are (similar to Graham Hancock at the same time) building on the work of Charles Hapgood, who devised an earth crust displacement theory which would have the geographic north pole located at different places prior to the various earth crust displacements that have occured.

Flem-Ath and Wilson build on this, as well as Hapgood's work on advanced ancient seafaring knowledge, with a thesis that Plato's Atlantis' capital city was in none other than Antarctica, which prior to the last crust shift, according to Hapgood circa 12kya, was up to 2,000 miles further north than its current location and thus ice free

Meanwhile they also believe ancient sites they claim to have been built by the global Atlantean civillization are aligned to previous positions of the geographic north pole, or located at whole number fractional latitudes or phi-ratio latitudes away from the previous pole, which drawing on Hapgood, they claim lay in the Hudson bay at the time of Atlantis

Its certainly a fascinating theory but I personally dont see quite enough evidence to find the Antarctica argument compelling, however, i do find compelling the evidence of cataclysmic crustal displacement in general, and it doesnt seem a stretch that one such crustal displacement event may have occured around either the beginning, end, or both, of the cataclysmic younger dryas period
