On 23 May 2025, Ethiopia proudly hosted the Brand Africa: Africa's Best Brands 2025 event at the ECA in Addis Ababa. The event unveiled Africa’s and Ethiopia’s most admired brands across various categories, including sports, media, telecom, aviation, apparel, auto manufacturing, Gen Z brands, and brands contributing to a better Africa.

Nike was named Africa’s Most Admired Brand overall. In media, DStv took the top spot, while Ethiopian Airlines led aviation, also being recognized for its role in connecting Africa to the world. The data revealed that African consumers still admire more brands from outside the continent, a point highlighted as an area to work hard and grow in African-made brands.

Aliko Dangote received the Lifetime Achievement Award for building one of Africa’s most impactful brands. In Ethiopia, EBS was named the top media brand, Ethio Telecom led in telecoms, and M-Pesa and CBE were recognized in finance.
