Our second panelist for this Friday’s Art Creates is Hadra Ahmed.

Hadra is an Emmy Award-winning Ethiopian producer and Gerald Loeb Award-winning freelance journalist working with various international media outlets. She has worked with VICE, BBC, CBS, Guardian and CBC on a range of projects. Hadra is the CEO of Nubia Media and Communications, a Pan-African media company that specializes in media, communications and technology. Hadra, as a women’s and children’s rights activist is a Giant in the Ethiopian media and journalism space.
If you’d like to hear the experiences of the first Ethiopian producer to win an Emmy award in the category of 'Outstanding Continuing Coverage of a News Story in a NewsMagazine', join us this Friday at Atmosphere.

The third and final panelist for Art Creates is Addis Aemero, a self taught photographer who is now the Photographer for the first female president and and a production assistant at Addis Foto Fest, one of the biggest photography festivals in Africa. She has had her work showcased all over the globe. Even though Addis has an academic background in Agricultural Economics she has had a long history with photography, beginning in her childhood as both her mother and grandfather were photographers. Join us Friday 26 August, 2022 to hear more about her experiences as a creative.

Ruth Girma is a self-taught Ethiopian artist known for her paintings on traditional ‘sefed’ (a traditional flat plate made from bamboo). Seeing the beauty in the unconventional, Ruth uses unique traditional mediums to depict her work that focus on Women’s Empowerment, Ethiopian Cultural Unity and Afro-centric Beauty. She is famous for being the first artist to produce Sefed paintings. Prone to Oil and Acrylic paints, she leans into semi-realistic, fantasy and surrealist art.
Ruth stands for restoring Ethiopian tradition from tools that Carry ancestral stories mixed with contemporary art to produce modern masterpieces.
