Toyo Solar, a leading Japanese solar solutions company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) to invest USD 60 million in establishing its first solar cell manufacturing facility in Ethiopia.
The company also secured an investment permit to build the facility in Hawassa Industrial Park, spanning over 3 hectares. Once operational, the plant is expected to produce 15.5 million solar cells per month, contributing to Ethiopia’s clean energy sector and advancing local manufacturing capabilities.
