🎄 Christmas Cringe in Britain: An AI-Generated Mural Sparks a Meme Frenzy

ℹ️ The plan was lovely: to adorn a restaurant's facade with a cozy Christmas mural. The task was entrusted to the renowned AI artist Mat Collishaw.

😁 After some time, he presented his "masterpiece" — and it was displayed on large screens above the entrance. The creator, apparently following the "good enough" principle, didn't even check the final result generated by the neural network.

😰 Everything unraveled when passersby started taking a closer look at the cheerful image. Instead of holiday idyll, they were met with a true Christmas horror: a man with antlers, a snowman with extra eyes and ears, dog-human hybrids, and other nightmare creatures.

😂 The result: the murals were promptly taken down, and social media exploded with memes. We had a good laugh too, by the way.

🚌 London bus drivers to go on strike

📰 Londoners are facing major transport disruptions again: next weekend, 13 bus routes across the eastern and northeastern parts of the city will come to a halt. More than a hundred drivers from Lea Interchange Bus Company (a subsidiary of Stagecoach London) have announced a strike amid bullying allegations, which Stagecoach “strongly denies.”

📆 The first wave of industrial action will take place on 12–13 December, followed by another on 8–9 January. The Stratford area — a popular destination for Christmas shopping — will be particularly affected.

📍 The strike will impact the following routes:
97, 58, 86, 135, 236, 276, 308, 339, 488, D8, W13, W14 and 678.

⚠️ TfL advises passengers to plan journeys in advance and seek alternative routes.

😰 AI-generated photo brought trains in Britain to a standstill

📰 Rail services across the north of England were paralysed after a viral fake. Following a real earthquake, social media users began sharing an image of a supposedly collapsed bridge in Lancaster.

🚨 Safety teams couldn’t take any chances and halted all traffic for an urgent inspection. Engineers were sent out in the middle of the night and confirmed the bridge was completely intact — the dramatic picture with fallen railings and a pile of rubble had been created by an AI model.

🐌 The “joke” caused delays to 32 services, including freight trains and overnight routes. The disruption affected logistics as far as Scotland.

ℹ️ The British Transport Police are aware of the incident, but no formal investigation has been launched yet.

🎓 The Oxford Dictionary has announced the key word of 2025

😤 The winner is the term “rage bait.” It refers to content intentionally created to provoke anger or irritation in the audience.

💬 Such posts are used to boost engagement: arguments and negative reactions in the comments prompt social media algorithms to show the post more often in recommendations.

Who else made the top list:
The shortlist also included “biohacking” and “aura farming” (the deliberate creation of a certain vibe around oneself).

🧠 Last year’s winner was “brain rot” (a state in which a person consumes too much meaningless content).

👨‍🎨 Banksy dedicates new London murals to homeless children

📰 The artist has unveiled two new works in London. Festive imagery serves as a backdrop for sharp social critique.

📍 One mural appeared in Bayswater, the other near the Centre Point tower. Both depict children lying on the ground: in one case, among real piles of rubbish; in the other, against the backdrop of luxury apartments. The themes are no coincidence — in 2025, the number of children in the UK without permanent housing reached a record high of 170,000.

ℹ️ Making social statements around the New Year is a long-standing tradition for the artist. Previously, Banksy turned a homeless bench into Santa’s reindeer sleigh.
