Ghislaine Maxwell won't testify: Lawyers hound FBI agents over 'victim’ accounts of sexual abuse
“Your honor, the government has not proven its case beyond a reasonable doubt so there is no reason for me to testify,” Maxwell said after being asked to stand.
Maxwell’s defense has claimed accusers' accounts have shifted over time and argued they only begun implicating her once there was a chance of a payout. (Reuters)
Lawyers for the alleged trafficker have also pointed to inconsistencies made by victims between statements given during FBI interviews and testimony at trial.
Each of the four women who testified against Maxwell were awarded more than $1 million from a victims’ compensation fund, run by Epstein’s estate.
