400 Beagles Rescued from Research Facility Captivity

The first 400 of 4,000 beagles bred purely for medical research were released Thursday following a judge’s ruling in favor of the Department of Justice that sued a Virginia facility for mistreatment of the dogs.

The Envigo center faced legal action after undercover reporting revealed atrocious conditions for the beagles, with the remaining 3,600 set to be relocated to the Humane Society’s adoption program over the next 60 days.
