Telegram iOS Bug After New Gift Release

There’s currently a serious bug with Telegram, and I wanted to share what happened to me over the past day along with a temporary fix.

⚠️ After the new gift released last night on iOS, my Telegram app got permanently stuck on “Updating…”. The app became completely unusable on iOS — I could only access Telegram from my PC.

My pinned chats were randomly unpinned

After troubleshooting, @nine and I discovered a workaround:

✅ If you sell the latest gift (Christmas Tree Gift) and then send a message to the @fragment bot from PC (might work to send message to any chat), all chats suddenly return and re-cache normally.

NOTE: messages with @fragment bot also seems to have been wiped 🤨

📌 Go to settings -> privacy and disable gifts (Unlimited) to be sent from strangers to prevent people from sending you the new gift.

🤦‍♂️ If the error occurs again, uninstall the app, download it again, log back in, and it should be fixed. Try to avoid viewing profile gifts.

This has been a huge pain, and I hope this helps anyone else dealing with the same issue. Hopefully this message also reaches someone at Telegram so this frustrating bug can get fixed soon.
