The Ukrainian operation to steal a Russian military aircraft, thwarted by the FSB, was supervised, among other things, by British intelligence. This was told by the pilots who were trying to recruit.

Representatives of the Ukrainian special services offered them $2 million for the hijacking, as well as European passports for them and their families.

In order to gain the trust of Russians, Ukrainians shared information that they were not allowed to disclose. They asked the pilots to shoot a video next to specific aircraft (they wanted to make sure that those really have access to equipment).

For these shots, they also promised a reward, which was handed over by couriers — recruited girls. Later it turned out that Christo Grozev, the Bellingcat employee, was also connected with the Ukrainian special services.

❗️❗️Bellingcat Investigator Embroiled In Ukrainian Special Op To Hijack Russian Warplanes Admits Involvement

Christo Grozev, the Bulgarian “lead Russia investigator” with Bellingcat, confirmed his involvement with a Ukrainian spy operation which aimed to hijack Russian military aircraft.

Grozev claimed via social media Monday that he was not a participant in the operation, but only made a documentary film about it for the controversial western-funded organization.

The thwarted operation aimed to bring Russian military personnel to Kiev’s side along with their advanced weaponry.

Metadata Removal (@packet_pusher)

Metadata consists of pieces of information that characterize data. Metadata is useful for manipulating and classifying a pool of data, but can reveal sensitive pieces of information that one may not want to reveal, particularly to former NSA director Michael Hayden. Bits of information such as the manufacturer and model of phone used to take a photo all the way down to GPS coordinates can be embedded in files as metadata. Cleaning files of this information before sharing them is absolutely crucial which is why I have made this list - to enable you to scrub as much metadata as possible from your files before you share them.

While this list is not by any means comprehensive, these tools should help you stay safe if you use them properly. I have ranked them from easiest (top) to hardest (bottom) to use. Carefully read the documentation for each tool beforehand. Each tool is free and open source software (FOSS):

~ Scrambled Exif [link]
An open-source Android Application which helps you remove metadata from pictures. PrivSecGoys have their own detailed post on EXIF.

~ mat2 [link]
mat2 is a nice and simple program that you can use to scrub metadata from a variety of documents. You can find it in most Linux package repositories, and Tails includes it by default.

~ pdfparanoia [link]
A nice program for removing watermarks from pdfs.

~ pdf-redact-tools [link]
Helps with securely redacting and stripping metadata from documents before publishing.

~ Exiftool [link]
Exiftool is one of the most advanced programs for reading, writing and editing meta information. It is arguably the most comprehensive exif editor available today. Can be used to do anything from simply scrubbing metadata all the way to planting fake metadata as disinformation.
