📢 Notice on the December 28 Emergency Maintenance & Detection of Abnormal Currency Generation

Greetings from the MINE WARZ team,

We express our sincere apologies for the unexpected emergency maintenance that has taken place in MINE WARZ, which launched its beta service on December 21.

Please see the following for a detailed account of the emergency maintenance that has been ongoing since approximately 13:40 (UTC) December 28, including what issues have occurred, the cause of these issues, and our future plans and measures to prevent its recurrence.

[Detection of Abnormal Currency Generation]

While reviewing game-related data at approximately 13:30 (UTC) on December 28, the team detected an abnormal occurrence of Gold generation and MZT transfers that should not have been possible at that time. Recognizing the problem within the game, the team took the following emergency measures to prevent the additional distribution of the game's currency.

- Access to MINE WARZ Web/App is blocked.
- MINE WARZ enters into emergency maintenance.
- Transfer of assets between MZT and HVH on HAVAHswap is suspended.
- MINE WARZ liquidity pool is withdrawn.

[Root Cause]

Upon investigating the incident, it was found that a large number of actions, which are not possible through normal methods, were carried out during the Gold packing/unpacking process. This led to an abnormal increase in Gold.

Given that many attempts were made in a very short period (averaging over 20 attempts per second), we believe it was a type of vulnerability exploit and are currently establishing measures to prevent its recurrence.

[Future Measures]

Currently, the MINE WARZ team is working hard to resolve the incident as quickly as possible. We apologize and ask for your kind understanding and patience regarding our decision to proceed with emergency maintenance of services. The team had no choice but to make this decision in order to immediately identify the cause of the incident and take corrective measures.

We have placed the enactment of emergency measures to correct the incident as our highest priority, and the team will soon announce measures for those who have been inconvenienced due to the incident and release our operational plans for the future. The MINE WARZ team intends to take appropriate measures and continue moving forward.

Having just launched our beta service, we are dedicated to continuously developing our carefully crafted game to provide the highest levels of satisfaction for our users.

This pool is very small and volatile, and in order to prevent any harm, we have officially withdrawn the liquidity pool. 📢 NOTICE ON CURRENT MEASURES & MINE WARZ 2ND BETA SERVICE

Greetings from the MINE WARZ team,

The MINE WARZ team is currently taking every measure possible to return the game's service back to normal in response to the attack on a security vulnerability exploited during MINE WARZ’ first beta service. As part of these measures, we have already purchased approximately 1.1 million HVH that have been circulated in the market, as previously announced in an earlier notice.

We deeply apologize for any and all inconveniences caused by this incident and promise to do our best to take all the possible corrective measures.

In addition to the buyback, we will be taking the following measures with the goal of ultimately resuming services with an improved version of MINE WARZ.

✅ MZT’s Return to Normalcy
Our team is evaluating the possibility of injecting our own liquidity to return MZT back to normalcy. However, we are concerned that doing this may only work as a short-term solution against the amount of abnormally circulating MZT in the market. In response to this, we have reviewed and compiled a list that identifies the abnormally circulating MZT and have implemented plans to retrieve them. If, however, its sufficient retrieval proves impossible, the team plans to deal with the situation through alternative means. The specifics of the alternative measure will be posted in a future notice should it become necessary. The MINE WARZ team is fully dedicated to return the game’s service back to normal.

✅ Enhancing Game Security
Building upon this experience, we aim to bolster the game’s security beyond its existing safeguards. This will involve implementing new procedures designed to strengthen security measures further.

✅ Rebalanced Game Features and Added User Convenience
The MINE WARZ team is thoroughly reviewing the extensive feedback we've received since the game’s beta release. In future updates, we plan to continue to work on balancing the Mining/Looting feature with the goal of reducing stress associated with Looting. Additionally, we have taken the community feedback and plan to improve the Revenge feature, while also improving the Reports feature to make it easier for players to access the information they need. Updates on the specifics will be provided once they are finalized.

✅ MINE WARZ Team Role & Opening of a New Discord Channel
We will open a new Discord channel #to-mzteam where users will be able to directly leave their opinions, feedback, and questions to the MINE WARZ team. The team will work to maintain direct communication regarding the posts on this channel.

The team is working on the above measures to the best of our ability, but please note some time will be required to complete the first three points and the game’s market review process. Considering this, the team will proceed with the goal of launching the game’s second beta service in January.

During this time, in-game mining will continue automatically according to your Mining Power without any transportation fees incurred. We ask for your understanding in this necessary step to ensure a smooth service, and we will continue to share updates via official announcements and details through the Discord channel #to-mzteam in order to communicate our progress as best as possible. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and frustration this incident has caused to all players and holders of the game. In addition to the above measures, a compensation plan is being considered, which we will announce as soon as it is finalized.

📢 NOTICE ON RETRIEVING MZT

Greetings from the MINE WARZ team,

As was announced earlier, we've completed the data collection process to identify circulating MZT in need of being retrieved.

The team has prepared an offer for those who have acquired MZT during the time it was abnormally circulated through HAVAHswap after 11:00 (UTC) on December 28. The offer applies the same rate for everyone involved, and the rate was set based on the MZT-HVH exchange rate at the time the MZT was acquired.

We ask all users who have acquired MZT through HAVAHswap after our liquidity pool was officially withdrawn to individually contact the team.

The email including the offer will be sent out from luis@minewarz.io. Please make sure this address is not filtered as spam.

📢 UPDATE ON STABILIZATION OF MINE WARZ

Hello, this is the MINE WARZ team.

As some may know, August 2023 marked the beginning of MINE WARZ. After Beta Launch on Dec 21, the team has been working tirelessly to make improvements and gather community feedback. And on Dec 28, as everyone may be aware, MINE WARZ faced an unfortunate attack where a security vulnerability was exploited. The MINE WARZ team is deeply regretful of this incident, and promises to overcome these tough times by not only applying the proper corrective measures, but also resuming services with an improved version of MINE WARZ in 2024.

Below are the progress updates since the Dec 28 maintenance.

✅ Identification of Risk Factors and Completion of Their Countermeasures
To prevent such exploits from happening again, the MINE WARZ team plans to introduce an OTP system to enhance overall security, including server security. We are also working to provide a safer and more reliable gaming environment by strengthening our internal monitoring system.

✅ Patches to Be Carried Out in 2 Stages
1st Patch: The 1st patch will include security-related content and the first adjustment of the Mining/Looting balance. This patch is planned to be implemented by this week, but with additional security checks and QA, it is expected that the game will reopen in mid-January.

2nd Patch: The 2nd patch will include the second adjustment of the Mining/Looting balance and the Revenge feature. This will require client modification and thus need a market app review which may take some time. We are preparing for this patch to be finalized by January.

Additionally, a separate feature to view PFP NFT stats on the web is in development.

The MINE WARZ team is working hard to return MINE WARZ back to normal for our awaiting players. Although we’re equally eager to resume the game’s service, we ask for your patience, as we are thoroughly screening the game as an additional security measure to ensure the highest levels of safety for our users.

✅ Stabilization of MZT Ongoing
In addition to the patches mentioned above, the MINE WARZ team is working hard to bring MZT’s circulation back to normal.
To facilitate the stabilization of MZT, we have contacted all holders with more than 3,400 MZT, proposing terms for discussion on restitution. We are currently awaiting their reply.

So far, approximately 2 million MZT of the 6.85 million MZT in abnormal circulation has been retrieved (approximately 30%). Users can track the retrieved MZT through the following wallet: hx1486f2587b19da706cd3eb06e7e5b0ca562d0efa

Currently, the exchange of MZT on HAVAHswap has been officially suspended due to the abnormal circulation of MZT. How have you been? I can’t believe it is already 2024... I hope all minerz had a good 2023. 2023 for me was a whirlwind and I think I can say the same for MINE WARZ as well.

I have been making small changes to discord, and have decided to close the Disocrd to-mzteam channel due to it not really being used and taking away from the suggestions channel. So I will be deleting the to-mzteam channel around next week! Instead, our team members will also be monitoring and replying to the suggestions that they can reply to on a periodic basis. So I hope many minerz leave their constructive suggestions in the suggestions Discord channel! I know there have been already great feedback shared there 😁

As for the updates, I can share that we are in the QA phase. Team is working hard to launch the 2nd beta, and we really appreciate our minerz patience 🙏 Wishing everyone a happy new year 🌄
