Vector 17HX, Too hot on idle

Hi everyone,
During light use / studying (you can call it idle), my laptop CPU stays around 72–73 °C.
Under heavy gaming load, the CPU sits at a constant 95 °C.
A few months ago, I experienced several Kernel-Power 41 errors, I sent the laptop to a service center; they reported no hardware issues, performed general cleaning and maintenance, and returned it, the errors were gone but i wasnt quite sure that they were totally solved.
Since then, I have reinstalled both CPU and GPU drivers from scratch with DDU.
Do these temperatures sound normal for a high-performance laptop, or could there still be an underlying thermal or power-related issue?
Any insights would be appreciated.

Intel SST audio crackle / hum on MSI Vector 16 HX (Win11) – root cause & fix
I had an intermittent but severe audio issue on an MSI Vector 16 HX (Intel HX platform, Windows 11): occasional audio “crunching”, and twice a full audio lock where sound degraded into a loud continuous hum that only cleared after a hard reboot. No BSOD, no AudioSrv crash.
Symptoms
Audio crackle under load (games/video)
Rare hard lock → continuous hum
Event Viewer mostly clean
Reinstalling Realtek/Nahimic didn’t fix it
Intel Smart Sound Technology (SST) runtime device never appeared (only BUS + OED)
What I tried (summary)
Clean Windows install (issue existed before and after)
Full driver re-installs (Realtek, Nahimic, Intel SST via pnputil)
ACPI resets, power drains
BIOS “Load Optimized Defaults” None of the above reliably fixed it. Forcing SST runtime enumeration actually made things less stable.
Root cause (conclusion)
This turned out to be a firmware-level issue, not Windows or drivers.
The system exposed Intel SST BUS + OED, but never the SST runtime device. That left the audio DSP in a degraded, unstable state that could occasionally lock (DMA-style failure → hum).
Actual fix
Updating the BIOS to the latest version completely stabilized the platform:
Audio crackle/hum stopped
GPU and LAN issues that appeared after resets were also fixed
Intel SST runtime device still does not appear — but audio is now stable
Key insight: on this machine, missing SST runtime is acceptable as long as firmware is stable. Trying to force SST back caused instability.
Takeaway
If you have:
MSI + Intel HX
Windows 11
Audio crackle or rare hum lockups
SST BUS present but no SST runtime
Don’t keep reinstalling drivers or Windows.
Check for a BIOS update first — that’s what actually fixed it.

Reviews on the Stealth A16 AI+ w 5070TI AMD?
I can barely find any reviews on it and the price for it w AMD seems very decent. Can anyone give a review about it?
I am especially curious bout the fan noise and speakers since they are upfiring so should sound decent.

Vector 16 hx ai
Was mir besonders gut gefällt:

Then the fps dropped from 90 to 20 and fans started going max speed and wont go back to normal even after i close the game and the temperature lowers. Ive been using it for around 1.5 years is it a thermal problem and should i get a repaste.

Should i buy the MSI Vector 16 AI HX 5070Ti.
Hey, i just bought a Hp Omen 16 Slim for $1200. it has Ultra 9 285h, RTX 5070(8GB), 32Gb of 5200Mhz ram and 1tb Gen 4 SSd, 1200p display, 144hz. it is good but i dont the the vram like it is a 5070 and still only 8gb?
And then i found this MSI Vector 16 AI HX Laptop for $1299 and omg the specs. It has an RTX 5070Ti (12GB Vram) and Ryzen 8940HX , 16Gb DDR5 5200mhz and 1tb gen 4, and a frikin 1600p display with 240hz.
It is good laptop and i am thinking of returning the OMEN one and buying the msi one but the question is look i am not going to be living in the us so the warrenty is like waste. i bought the hp one in the first place because i thought i would havve warrenty in my country and it also has brand value. should i buy this msi still?

Cooling Options: Is there a gel pad for heat transfer?
MSI GE76 Geoforce 3060, couple years old, original owner.
I do online gaming sitting in bed, laptop is on a 5x fan pad (about 1" thick) that sits on my lap. The top left corner of the laptop gets VERY hot to the point where I must place a small portable fan on my left side aimed at that corner to cool it down.
I really don't want a thicker cooling pad as that raises the laptop beyond whats ergonomically comfortable. It got me thinking, is there a small gel pad that can be used for heat transfer? Something like 1"x5" to place at the corner. Or is that just not a thing? There are no air vents in that particular location.
I just downloaded MSI Afterburner to better track the temps.
Thanks in advance!

7 Best MSI Gaming Laptop Year-End Sale Options
I have been looking at the year-end inventory for a new gaming rig and noticed some MSI laptops are at smart prices right now. These 2025 models are highly effective for gaming and creative work because they feature the new RTX 50 series cards.
There is a huge range here, from the budget-friendly Cyborg to the absolute beast Stealth A16 with an RTX 5090. Some of these are at an unbeatable price for the Winter Sale, which is great if you want to start the new year with a major upgrade. I put this list together to show the best discounts I found today:
MSI Katana 15 HX Gaming Laptop, 15.6” QHD (1440p) 165Hz, Intel Core i7-14650HX, RTX 5060, 16GB 1TB, Wi-Fi 6E, RGB Keyboard, Windows 11 B14WFK-810US, for $1,299.99
MSI Vector 16 HX AI 16” 144Hz FHD+ Gaming Laptop, Intel Core Ultra 7-255HX, RTX 5070 Ti, 16GB 512GB, Thunderbolt 5, Wi-Fi 6E, Win 11 Home, Cosmo Gray A2XWHG-212US, for $1,499.99
MSI Cyborg A15 AI 15.6” FHD 144Hz Thin & Light Gaming Laptop, AMD Ryzen 7 260, RTX 5060, 16GB 1TB, Portable Design, Wi-Fi 6E, Windows 11 B2HWEKG-074US, for $1,169.99

MSI Stealth A16 AI+ 16” 240Hz QHD+ OLED Gaming Laptop, AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, RTX 5090, 64GB 2TB, Wi-Fi 7, Win 11 Home, Core Black A3XWJG-074US, for $3,699

I am personally leaning toward the Vector 16 with the Ultra 9 because $1,759 is a smart price for an RTX 5070 Ti and a 240Hz screen.
What about you guys? Which one is your favorite pick for 2026, or did you already grab one of the new Blackwell GPU laptops during the Black Friday?
I look forward to hearing if anyone has tried that OLED screen on the Stealth yet!
Thank you.

Gaming Hub Recommendation
I currently own an MSI 16" Vector RTX5080 U9-275HX laptop, and I purchased a hub so I can hook it up to my monitors, keyboard, mouse, and headset when I'm at home.
Shortly after purchasing the hub, I would get stuttering in games, with all my peripherals eventually failing and requiring a hard reboot of the laptop to get them going again. I've managed to find the right mix of plugging into the hub vs. the laptop to create a 90% solution, however I just not a new headset for Christmas, and I'm noticing delayed input from my keyboard now, as well as an increase in the amount of lockups.
Prior to buying this hub I had no such issues, and I imagine it has something to do with the power of the laptop and the unsuitability of the hub (it's some Wavlink hub that was advertised as being ideal for multi-monitor use).
What would be a good hub to purchase to fix this issue?
Thanks a ton.

worth fixing my MSI laptop or get a new one?
Hey I hope this is the right place to post for this, but i have an MSI laptop that I got around 2021/2022 I believe. recently a hinge broke (surprise surprise) and it is tearing off the screen and frame. I left it be because it causes no issues as long as you’re cautious when opening/closing it. Recently it also started lagging badly (like 8fps in games) and dies within a minute of being unplugged. it’s not a charger issue as I tried other chargers. I’m thinking it’s just the battery. well I took it to ubreakifix and they quoted me $500 for the screen and $150 for the battery. obviously I’m not gonna spend that much total but I’m wondering if I should spend the $150 for the battery or just get a new laptop altogether because of the other issues. the guy also said he doesn’t recommend just getting the new battery because there could be other issues later on and I don’t want to pour money into it instead of getting a new one…

Bravo 15 battery issue.
Hi everyone. I dont dont know if this is the right subreddit, but im trying to post it here to see if i can get some support. Here is the thing: I have a MSI bravo 15, bought 3/4 years ago. I use the laptop almost every day. When im finished using it, i turn it off and, when i come at the next day, it turns on with the same battery percentage as the last time used, but after 1 or 2 minutes, it randomly shuts off and you have to connect the charger in order to turn on, and when it does, it shows up at 0%. What is causing this?. I already tried doing a battery calibration( using the propper msi tools nad even doing it manually), checking the battery life (it is at 89% life, not that bad), and nothig works. I even did the propper battery calibration every 6 months, like said in the manual. Hope to find any help here, beacuse this issue is driving me crazy. Thanks!

I even did the propper battery calibration every 6 months, like said in the manual. Hope to find any help here, beacuse this issue is driving me crazy. Thanks!

MSI Replacement Battery - BTY-M6L - GS75 Stealth 8SF.
Seeking Assistance for GS75 Stealth Battery Replacement
Hello Everyone,
I have been searching for a replacement battery for my GS75 Stealth laptop since 2019. I truly love my MSI laptop; it has been reliable and long-lasting, and I don't want to replace it just because of this battery issue.
Unfortunately, I have been unable to find a replacement battery with the correct connector orientation. Most of the batteries available in the market have the connector pin flipped (upside down) or facing the wrong direction. I have contacted numerous suppliers worldwide, but although they advertise their batteries as compatible replacements for my laptop, they cannot explain the difference in connector pin orientation.
Many suppliers suggested that I rotate the connector and install it anyway. I tried this approach with a battery I purchased on Amazon, but encountered a significant issue: the black (negative) cable of the connector was not long enough to reach and align properly with the motherboard. As a result, I was unable to proceed with that battery. I even attempted to use the original cable from my old battery with the replacement, but it only worked for a couple of days before failing again.
Left: Correct Orientation of the connector pin Right: Orientation of the replacement battery.
I’m hesitant to purchase another battery that may potentially damage my laptop. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or guidance on how to give my laptop another chance.
Thank you!

Help.
So i recently asked my sister for her old gaming laptop and she gave it to me. it’s a gf63 thin. i dont have a clue about laptops or pcs and didnt know really what i was doing. i tried updating the drivers and for i think it was either the graphic card or gbe something and it took me to the automatic repair and wouldnt boot. i tired countless things like using coding and uninstalling recent updates but it wouldnt let me. i finally looked a vid up and it said maybe switching to legacy would help? i did that and now it keep sending me to a black screen saying my gbe family controller isnt picking up media and its offline. i plugged an ethernet into it and it says getting my mac stuff or something but just fails. i dont know what else do.
