MSI Katana 17 B12U laptop has fan noise all the time

Hello! I would like to ask for help with something.

My laptop has fan noise all the time, even in ECO-Silent mode or Extreme Performance mode with the fans maxed out to 0%. I expected fan noise when i am playing games or doing extensive work, however most of the time I am just browsing and my fans make a lot of noise, making it hard to join scroll or watch movies. How can i fix that on my own?

Trying to use msi kombustor

i want to use msi kombustor but it automatically stays on my igpu, when i try to change it i cant as it is greyed out and doesnt let me click on the dropdown menu.

December 2025 update rollout

for context I do not know much of this update considering it will not work however I must ask this,

hey guys, msi center has been the bane of my existence ever since i got this laptop. ever since the new update apeared to start downloading on it has caused my computer to start screetching then poping up with the text “unable to download …….” then asks if id like to override, retry, or stop download. after clicking stop download it will proceed to retry downloading after 5 or so minutes. its really freaking me out and I would like any insight into this. thank you so much.

MSI Katana 17 B13VFK Stutters and Audio crackles, pop

Hi! I recently bought a new laptop and since the very start, when I have an playing audio in the background (usually YouTube or Spotify), sometimes the audio just does this very weird half second audio stutter (I don't really know how to describe it, it sounds kinda like "drrrrrrrr", if that explains it more somehow) and the screen freezes for half a second as well. It also seems to happen more often when I'm downloading something or when I open an app/a game. I've tried so many things from updating drivers to looking into BIOS and I just don't know what it could be. My temps are not problematic, CPU and GPU usage also looks fine, although I'm not a big laptop/PC expert, so what do I know.

CPU : 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13620H 2.40 GHz

RAM 32GB DDR5 5200MHZ , GPU : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop 8GB

New laptop recommendations

Hello you all,

I have just recently bought a gaming laptop, specifically MSI Crosshair A16 HX D8WGKG-200XES AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX 64GB 1TB SSD RTX 5070 QHD+ 240Hz.

Just got it yesterday and already installed windows and updated driver from the partition and so far it’s been great, but I have never had a gaming laptop before so I don’t know if I should do something more to it.

MSI Laptop Performance mode and Using external monitor

this is my msi cyborg rtx 4060 laptop in windows setting i have set the performance to Best performance and in the msi center it is on extreme but this HW monitoring shows balance, am i getting full potential out of the laptop?
and also i wan to upgrade to ASUS 2K 180Hz monitor and i think it supports higher FPS at DP port, so what cable do i need Type c to DP or HDMI to DP? to get higher FPS and also what is the purpose behind using the 2nd display only or should i set it to extended?

MSI CrossHair or Vector , which to choose ? I would use that in Gaming,Coding and Cybersecurity tools usage.

Budget can be flexible for both. I am from India and people here are saying that MSI have very bad to worst build quality and weak hardware. Is that true for Crosshair and Vector series as well ?

Is 95C normal on Katana GF66 12UD normal?

Hello!
Ive had this now for 3 years. I didnt exactly want a laptop but was still very grateful. Played happily on it for over a year and noticed the CPU Temps over a year ago. I noticed it was 95C and applied thermal paste on it and it was still on 95C and thought: "I guess this is normal" and moved on. Ive had no problems with it to this day all though im going to clean it again whenever I got time.
I was just wondering if this is a normal thing on this model or on gaming laptops.

do msi laptops really have bad build quality in general

A few months ago i picked up a msi pristage ai evo 14 inch from 2023 its a solid laptops the keyboard is bright good for me for typing, i can flip my screen by pressing f11 for whatever reason. But the trackpad has been feeling a little loose sometimes to the point. where it feels like it might fall apart. i also noticed their is very silent coil whine coming from the cpu area when i move my fingers on the trackpad.

Msi laptop always on dgpu

My MSI Katana 17 B13U with RTX 3050 is always running on the dedicated GPU, even during light tasks. I tried multiple fixes. Initially, selecting “Auto-select” in the NVIDIA settings worked, but after about a month, the system went back to using the dGPU all the time.

MSI GS66 Stealth 10UH broken af

I need help. I got this laptop back in 2021 and within the first 2 years, it’s been messing up .

the main things is how loud the fan is just from turning on. it’s so loud that I can barely hear myself. the other main thing is how hot it gets even if i’m not playing anything. it goes up and over 90 degrees Celsius and literally burns me. I can smell how hot this thing is.

other problems that occur is the screen switching between a blue hue to a warm hue randomly, battery going down crazy fast, and recently it’s crashed twice from playing Mortal Kombat.

mind you, i recently factory reset this laptop and MK is the only game i have downloaded now. and I tried to take it to Best Buy (Geek Squad) so they can fix it and they didn’t even open up the laptop or do jack shit. i tried to sell it to Best Buy and they tried to give me like $100 for a $2000+ laptop……..

nothing has worked. idk anything about laptops, so pls dumb down anything u guys say 💔

and if it matters my processor is Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59 GHz (idk what any of this means either)

to put it short: got laptop 4 years ago, gets too hot, fan too loud, screen switches hues, battery drains fast, crashed twice, don’t know what to do. Thanks. :-)
