🟢There were no more than 30 Amur tigers left in the world in the 20th century. The striped predators almost disappeared due to poaching and deforestation.

Now the population of these cats has been revived. There are several hundred of them in Russia. To save the species and maintain the number of animals, specially protected natural areas were created in the Far East. For killing an Amur tiger, poachers face five to eight years in prison and a fine of up to two million rubles.

On World Habitat Conservation Day, learn more about the conservation of Amur tigers in Russia from our documentary ‘Freed To Be Wild’ (2020).

Ordinary Leningrad locals saved the look of the city during the blockade years. They hid significant buildings, monuments, golden spires and domes.

Hundreds of architects, specialists and even climbers worked on preserving the cultural heritage. The latter worked in the most difficult conditions — under shelling and in strong winds they painted and covered the gilded roofs with camouflage covers. This is how they managed to save many masterpieces.

On World Architecture Day we show the cultural feats of Soviet people in an excerpt from 'Leningrad Unbreakable' by Dmitry Khrustalev and Ekaterina Kitaitseva.

The status of the beauty pageant was particularly shaken last year when it accepted a transgender woman as a contestant, a representative of the Netherlands. What do you think about biological men participating in the women's competition? Share your opinion in the poll, and see the most beautiful Russian woman in our video.

One of the Brazilian women's colonies organises its own competitions. Why? Find out from Ekaterina Kozhakina's documentary ‘Model Prisoners’ (2018).

▶️Bolivia is the country where Che Guevara died 57 years ago. On October 8, 1967, he was captured by the military and shot in one of the local villages. He has become a legend for people around the world, with his image appearing on T-shirts, badges, and even tattoos. Many poems and songs have been written about him.

So, what was he really like? Watch the documentary ‘Chasing Che’. The film contains the deathbed notes of a well-known revolutionary.

▶️The Mapo Bridge in South Korea used to be a well-known suicide spot. Hundreds attempted to take their lives by jumping from it. Psychologists and designers worked on the problem — fences were installed and supportive words were written on the structure. It seemed to help — the bridge doesn't witness as many suicides as it did. Yet globally the problem of stress and the high self-harming rates in this country is not so easy to tackle.

Learn more from our video and film ‘Gangnam Stress'.
