We are different, but we are more alike than we are different. In my opinion, we need to focus more on our similarities than our differences.
Free speech is one of our most valuable God-given rights. Free speech allows for a robust exchange of different and competing ideas and opinions.
We should respect each other even though we have differences and we should respect the ideas of others even if we disagree with them.
We should extend grace to ALL. If we differ with some person or some idea or belief held by another person, we should remain civil and agree to disagree. That is grace.
In my opinion, calling someone a “kook” or their ideas “kooky” is demeaning and insulting to the person and/or to his or her ideas.
There seems to be a rising use of the word “kook” or “kooky” in recent times. I think the individuals using those words should think twice lest they find themselves to be branded a “kook” or their ideas demeaned as “kooky.”
Words matter. Try as best you can to exercise discernment in your choice of words.
Please bear in mind what you are conveying when you use the slang terms “kook” or “kooky.”
kook
[ kook ]
noun Slang.
an eccentric, strange, or foolish person.
an insane person.
Unless you just wish to insult another person, be wise and discerning before using such demeaning terms as “kook” or “kooky.”
Just sayin.’
