While we must remember the past to know where we want to go in the future, we must always focus on the future while we remember the past.

Just sayin.’

The Passover as a Memorial
🔗
In the Bible, memorials were established for the purpose of remembering. Memorials helped future generations remember something important. The Passover was an annual memorial that helped the people remember how God had conquered and humiliated the false gods of Egypt. It was a memorial that helped God's people remember not only how God had judged Egypt, but also how God had saved His people from Egypt, and how He had saved His people from the tenth plague. It was only through the proper application of blood that the firstborn sons, both man and beast, were saved when the death angel passed through Egypt.
Moses confirmed this understanding of the Passover in Exodus 13:9. "This observance will be for you like a sign on your hand and a reminder on your forehead that the law of the LORD is to be on your lips. For the LORD brought you out of Egypt with His mighty hand." The purpose of the Passover as a memorial is for the people, "This day is a memorial for you." https://www.christianstudylibrary.org/article/exodus-121-29-passover-memorial-feast-and-lasting-ordinance
The New Covenant
When He took the cup of wine and blessed it, He said, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you” (Luke 22:20; compare with 1 Corinthians 11:25). In referring to the new covenant, Jesus was announcing that through His death and resurrection forgiveness of sins would be made available to all and that humanity could once again live in communion with God (see also 2 Corinthians 3:6).
The “writing of the law on the heart” would occur through the new birth and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit who empowers believers to obey God. Through the establishment of this new covenant, the old Mosaic covenant was made obsolete (Hebrews 8:13).
Belief in the new covenant was one of the key distinctions between early Christians and Jews. For example, the Christian apologist Justin Martyr argued that the new covenant was the perfection of the old, while Trypho, as a Jew, held that the Mosaic Law was perfect by itself.¹
Since the dates for Passover and Unleavened Bread are based on a lunar calendar, they are floating dates that can occur on any day of the week of the first month of Nisan/Abib. However, God commanded in Leviticus that the Feast of First Fruits must consistently fall on the first day after the weekly Sabbath, i.e., our Sunday, during the week of Unleavened Bread. God decreed that First Fruits must always fall on Sunday, no matter on what day of the week Passover (Nisan 14) and the first day of Unleavened Bread (Nisan 15) fall. https://truthinnoscripture.net/2017/02/19/jesus-death-and-resurrection-timing-of-the-spring-feasts/

👆On Passover, this is Judaism's essential teaching. We are no longer slaves, we are free. But that freedom is not a floating concept. It is clear what the purpose of freedom is...Moses requests that Pharaoh let us go to the wilderness so that we can worship our God (Exodus 5:1, 7:26, 8:16, 9:13, 10:3). We will then be free to commit to the rules that govern a civil society, a society where the community cares for the less fortunate, the widow and orphan, and regards the stranger with honor.
