Apparently our constitution was originally set up so that citizens wouldn't have to pay tax as the grubberment was supposed to be using the country's mineral wealth as it's revenue, hence why we have no rights to anything under a certain depth on our properties. But that all changed with the first war; they needed to bring in a tax to subsidise that war, then needed more for the next war and so on, but no taxes were ever repealed. And now they just charge whatever taxes they fucking want.
