This isn’t quite true. Apple haven’t announced this. Nor have Telegram. This isn’t a reliable method to prevent the app being deleted either.

This is a mis-reporting of the fact that a lawsuit was apparently filed against Apple on 17th Jan by the “Coalition for a Safer Web” who say the telegram app “should” be removed.

The outcome has yet to be decided.

Apple have not announced anything so far.
