Scientists have described a fungus that causes male flies to engage in necrophilia

The fungus infects the body of the female, gradually eating her from the inside. About six days after infection, the insect dies, and the fungus begins releasing chemicals that attract males. Over time, the corpses become more attractive: Thus, only 15% mated with 3-8 hour-old corpses and 73% of males preferred the corpses of females 25-30 hours old.

Af
ter mating, fungal pores enter the body of male flies - thus the fungus spreads further.

«We cannot state it emphatically enough: freedom is an illusion. Nature is not our mother, she is “cruel,” “merciless,” and yes, “oppressive.” Or at least that is how the hyper-civilized would see it. But for us, all this merely is, and what has always been. We don’t tremble at the movement of the tectonic plates, or when the tsunami makes a particular eco-system disappear. Nor are we taken aback when a crocodile eats its young or a tribe of savages strangles its [REDACTED]. We got rid of our civilized prejudices, we killed our moral being. We blew to pieces those who sought to domesticate our bodies and minds. We accept reality, we look our truth in the eyes and we are NOT afraid.» - Against the World-Builders - Eco-extremists respond to critics.

Scientists have infiltrated the brains of flies and started controlling them remotely

Scientists from American Rice University have embedded thermal sensors in the brains of fruit flies and were able to remotely control the insects. They received commands and performed the appropriate action within a second.

The thermal sensors in the neurons of the flies' brains were genetically engineered. They are ion channels that respond to changes in temperature. When the sensors received heat signals, the neurons activated and caused the fruit flies to spread their wings.
