My next installment covering my year-long investigation into the ambitious, Silicon Valley Billionaire-backed sustainable city planned for the land next to Travis AFB, one of the most critical bases on the west coast and also the "Gateway to the Pacific", aka the Indo-Pacific Region, which includes China, our primary competitor, most formidable opponent, and primary concern that is driving almost everything behind the California Forever story. To gain the technological lead on us that they did, China employs Civil-Military Fusion, which is the complete dissolving of any barrier between the Civilian and Military domains, which they can do due to the fact they live in a top-down governance system, as opposed to a Democracy like us.

Because of that, they are able to innovate key technologies faster, but not only faster, but also integrate them into military and civilian society faster which is—in this newly hyper-connected world—the key to success, and quickly becoming the sole piece of leverage any remaining sovereign nation has to defend against complete collapse or subversion. Every major strategic trend and future state report regarding emerging technologies and next gen threats hinges on these themes, including America figuring out a way to DUPLICATE THE SUCCESS OF CHINA'S MILITARY-CIVIL FUSION CAMPAIGN WHILE WITHIN THE PARAMETERS OF THE DEMOCRACY AND CONSTITUTION (since we're no dictatorship, not outright at least).

Our answer to this problem is to rabidly promote, fund, and push public-private partnerships and military-civilian collaborations, but specifically focused on connections between the U.S. military and the civilian entities in commercial tech sectors, aka Silicon Valley. In 2018, after the National Defense Strategy was published and codified the maxim: "The Homeland is no longer a sanctuary", the apparatus that had been focused on the Middle East for so long after decades of abiding by the PNAC vision is finally being shifted back home. All eyes are on the U.S. Homeland, and the reasons for that aren't good. The reasons for that is because we neglected the Homeland for decades. We let our infrastructure decay and fall behind in the wake of the 9/11 attacks in exchange for justifying our wars in the Middle East, falsely waged with 9/11 as the justification. What the reports say we didn't expect though was China advancing as rapidly as they have, and technology making the gigantic leap that it did so fast.

We fell behind, in other words. And if you were to make a physical manifestation that embodies the resolutions put forth in these military strategy reports to all the projected threats we're facing now and in the future, it would look like a sustainable city built next to a critical military base, just like California Forever proposes.
