艾滋病（AIDS）是一种全球公共卫生问题，这一慢性、可能危及生命的疾病由人类免疫缺陷病毒（HIV）引起。由于 HIV 会迅速变异为新毒株，开发相关疫苗十分困难。根据发表在《科学》期刊上的一项研究，一种实验性 HIV 疫苗可使97%参与者产生抗体。在相隔 8 周接种两剂 HIV 疫苗的 36 名试验者中，有 35 名产生了病毒抗体，且未发现严重副作用。被称为 eOD-GT8 60mer 的疫苗可刺激 B 细胞产生 HIV 特异性广泛中和抗体。在所有参与者中，98% 的参与者出现了轻微副作用，如疲劳、头痛和注射部位疼痛等。大多数情况下，这些副作用会在一两天内好转。
