Here we see that devils can compel someone to cut themselves.

In the KJV "cry" means to speak in a loud voice. So this guy was screaming in the mountains.

This right here is exactly why I believe it is completely unfruitful to try and interact with devils in any capacity. They're a wildcard. At one point they may do something that is technically right and good, but then afterward do something crazy. Unless you're Jesus Christ who knows all things, I do not recommend dealing with devils in any way other than ignoring them and presenting the gospel to the victim.

Is not Jesus Christ the Son of the most high God? Here we have evidence that devils can tell the truth, at least in isolation. This proves that the words of devils cannot be reversed in order to understand good, further showing us that it is pointless for us to communicate with devils.

I cannot confirm that all devils are like this, but Legion appears to be a hivemind.

The reactions of the man in Mark 5 would make modern physicians try to prescribe him medications.

The number of devils in one man was enough to possess about two thousand pigs, and be strong enough individually to cause all the pigs to become suicidal.

This is particularly creepy. I see it as figurative.

Luke8:26 And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee.

Luke8:27 And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs.

Luke8:28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.

Luke8:29 (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)

Luke8:30 And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.

Luke8:31 And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep.

Luke8:32 And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them.

Luke8:33 Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked.

Luke8:34 When they that fed them saw what was done, they fled, and went and told it in the city and in the country.

Luke8:35 Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

Luke8:36 They also which saw it told them by what means he that was possessed of the devils was healed.

Luke8:37 Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear: and he went up into the ship, and returned back again.

I would presume that this is an extreme example of someone possessed with devils. We see similarities with this man's behavior and the behavior of deranged people in modern society, but rarely with this particular denoscription in Luke 8:27.

Take note of this.

In both other accounts, Mark and Matthew, Legion pleads that Jesus does not torment them. We can presume that by "torment" Legion means being sent into the deep.

My best hypothesis on the influence of devils on the flesh (the old man, Eph4:22, Col3:9) is that it acts as an amplifier to the lusts of the flesh, not the direct cause of a person's sins.

I said this before but I want to make it very, VERY clear. Any information not found in the KJV I am taking with every grain of salt that I have. I will not entertain any other source as accurate.

This includes personal testimonies, even my own experience. I do not believe that devils can be studied the way animals can be studied. Devils are spirits, not physical beings. Any testimony from anything outside the KJV about a "vision" or "episode" or "experience" I will NEVER entertain as factual or trustworthy, even if they actually happened. The reason for this is that if devils can cause insanity, then they likely can get someone to see, hear, or think any random thing they want with no rhyme or reason.

Do not talk to devils. If you think you see or hear one, do not pay any attention to it. There is absolutely nothing good that you can gain from it.

I am KJV only and Free Grace. OSAS is the correct interpretation of the message of eternal life in the Bible.

The other reason I believe that devils cannot and should not be studied like regular animals is because our own flesh is evil and can be mistaken for the work of devils. Yes, devils can cause insanity, but I'm not going to blame my sins on anyone else but myself.

Angels live alongside us in another dimension that we cannot see. We know from the Bible that they influence various things in our dimension, but we don't have much information beyond this. Because of this lack of knowledge, we can't jump to huge conclusions about what devils are responsible for. I have suspicions that certain people we see in various videos on the internet have devils, but I'm not going to outright state this like it is a fact.

Same with other things that man on earth is forbidden from accessing. Hell is one example. You can't dig to it and the only way in is to go your entire life without believing on Christ. There is almost nothing in the Bible about what actually happens in hell, but that doesn't stop millions of people from making crazy unfounded theories on it.

There's another reason I am refusing to entertain non-KJV sources for this subject. I believe that going down this rabbit hole will turn you into that guy from Mark chapter 5 who was full of devils. My pastor told me that our church's original pastor back in the day knew a guy who professed to be very interested in studying devils, and apparently he ended up doing one of the most evil things I've ever heard a single person do. I cannot recall exactly what it was because I blocked it out of my memory, but it was really bad.

Because the Bible discusses devils to a small degree, I believe that is as far as we are allowed to study them: on the surface level and nothing more.

What we can gain from studying these passages in the Bible is a better understanding of mental health, how that the best cure for insanity is and always will be our Lord Jesus Christ, whether or not it is from devils or the flesh. We give our thanks to him and him alone for grounding us in truth, and giving us a firm foundation to stand on.
