Do you remember when Hajar was gifted the well of Zamzam? A woman alone with her baby, in the desert; and when tribes encountered her, no one tried to dispossess her of what Allah had given her?
Contrast that level of decency and honour with the attitude of the West towards Africa and the countries of the Sahel specifically.
Civilized people would value and respect a people who possess resource they need, they would treat them with dignity and esteem. But when you have anything the West wants, they only see you as prey.

The sudden interest in my content reflects, in my opinion, a widespread disillusionment with the West, along with a new sense of hope in the Muslim world and Global South that independence is possible. But it is important to understand the real power dynamics at play, if we want to truly achieve that.

🇳🇪 Prigozhin interview about situation in Niger

PMC Wagner leader Yevgeny Prigozhin gave comments regarding the situation in Niger for the African edition of l'Afrique Libre. Here are some excerpts from his interview:

▪️Economics is the main reason for the coup and anti-French sentiment in Niger, as the population is in poverty and France exploited their resource abundance.

▪️France only gave 5% of all profits from the resources in Niger to the people of the country.

▪️The people of Niger, if they controlled the resources themselves, would be rich and happy.

▪️The terrorists in Sahel region were created, financed and controlled by the UN, France, UK, USA, EU and other Western countries, as only a huge number of trained troops could control such a large number of "terrorists".

▪️The terrorists in Niger are an attempt to cover up France's economic crimes. The population in Niger was kept in fear with the help of militants. To fight the "terrorists" Niger was literally forced to be pumped full of troops from France, the US, etc.

▪️ Toppled president Bazoum's government allowed France to rampage in Niger. He and other higher officials were just covering up the plundering of the country.

▪️Now there is a "liberation struggle for the independence of the country," and "God willing, they will succeed," added the head of PMC Wagner.

🇲🇱 Mali adopts new mining code that boosts state interests

Mali adopted a new mining code on Tuesday that mining sector officials said would channel a greater share of revenue to state coffers and increase state and private Malian interests in new projects.

The government announced the review of the mining code in January after it said an internal audit had shown that Mali was not receiving a fair slice of profits while granting too many tax breaks.

The new code now allows the government to take a 10% stake in mining projects and the option to buy an additional 20% within the first two years of commercial production. A further 5% stake could be ceded to locals, taking state and private Malian interests in new projects to 35%, from up to 20% today.

Meanwhile certain tax exemptions have been abolished.

As I have talked about before, the West doesn't fear BRICS, they don't fear the pivot to the Global South; they have anticipated it and are helping orchestrate it. What they fear, and what they are trying very hard to prevent, is that this shift results in a shift in HOW the global economy is managed; a shift in the neoliberal paradigm. And that is exactly the shift we need to be promoting.

🇲🇱🇧🇫🇺🇳🇳🇪 Mali, Burkina Faso call on UN, African Union to prevent military action in Niger

Mali and Burkina Faso asked the UN and African Union on Tuesday to prevent by all possible means any military intervention in Niger.

In a joint letter addressed to the African Union Peace and Security Council and the UN Security Council, the foreign ministers of Burkina Faso and Mali, Olivia Rouamba and Abdoulaye Diop, said the extent of the consequences of military intervention “would be unpredictable.”

In the letter, the two countries reaffirmed their readiness “to search for diplomatic and negotiated solutions to ensure peace and stability in the region and Niger.”

🇳🇪 Major Pipeline projects and coup d'état in Niger

Since the coup in Niger took place, many Western and African nations stared to voice their concern regarding many things: uranium and other resources import from Niger, airspace closure and elongated fly time to and from some countries in different parts of Africa, threat of a second Great war of Africa and deterioration of situation with terrorism, etc.

🔻One of such concerns was voiced regarding the major oil and gas pipeline projects that cross the Nigerien territory or start there. Such major projects are Niger-Benin oil pipeline, Niger-Chad oil pipeline (that connects to the Chad-Cameroon pipeline) and Trans-Saharan gas pipeline. ECOWAS and Western nations were first to voice their concerns with the fate of these projects.

However, just like with the uranium (which continues to be exported from Niger and companies like Orano continue their work in the republic) the situation with pipelines remains the same no matter the coup.

▪️With Niger-Benin pipeline everything is clear. The Benin government itself told that Niger-Benin oil pipeline is not impacted by sanctions, the projects was not abandoned and is still under construction. The most recent news indicate that the pipeline is ready for 75% and should be finished soon.

▪️The situation with Niger-Chad and Trans-Saharan pipelines is different. Many western outlets started to cry that projects are under threat of being canceled. Which is funny, because even before the coup the fate of these projects was a mystery.

The Niger-Chad pipeline is presumed to be shelved, because there were no news since 2019. And in 2019 Chad authorities informed that the project, most likely, was stopped in favour of Niger-Benin pipeline. The official explanation given for the project's "cancellation" was concerns about attacks by Boko Haram in the Lake Chad area.

With the Trans-Saharan gas pipeline the situation almost the same, except that the project was and is in work. The idea of the Trans-Saharan pipeline was first proposed in the 1970s. In 2000s the preparations to build it began. However latest news are from autumn of 2022. And they were about the singing of memorandum of understanding between Nigeria, Niger and Algeria. So the project remained quite vague even before the coup. And there's no confirmation of its cancelation.

🔻All in all, these "concerns" about the major pipeline projects are just another attempt to pressure Niger's military authorities to take a more favorable position in the international relations in order to bargain for better terms with the junta.

The same as with the situation with "invasion" or concerns of toppled president Bazoum's health.

💰🪖 Western weapons manufacturers are popping champagne corks over record sales with total revenues hitting $400 billion for last year. According to media reports, this coming year-end will see that record figure exceeded by another salivating $50 billion.
Ukraine may be resembling a bloodbath, as we noted in last week’s editorial. But apparently, Western military corporations are swimming in a bonanza of profits and stock market investments.

Most of this lucrative new business stems from NATO’s proxy war with Russia in Ukraine, which is heading toward its second year. There is no sign of a diplomatic effort from the West or the Kiev regime it sponsors to end the bloodshed.

The main corporate beneficiaries making a financial killing from Ukraine are by far the American firms. They include such behemoths as Lockheed Martin, Boeing and RTX (formerly Raytheon). But also enjoying soaring profits are arms makers in other NATO countries: BAE in the United Kingdom, Airbus in France, Netherlands and Spain, Leonardo in Italy, and Germany’s Rheinmetall.

This week the Joe Biden administration requested another $24 billion in U.S. taxpayer-funded aid to Ukraine. It’s hard to keep track of the money flowing from NATO countries to prop up the Nazi regime in Kiev. Even the NATO authorities don’t seem to know the precise figures, such is the rampant corruption that is inevitably associated with the vast doling of funds. But estimates of total U.S. and NATO aid to Ukraine range from $150 billion to $200 billion over the past year alone.

Western capitalism is at once a sponsor and an addict of war 🛑
