How hard is it to get started with modding (with no coding experience)?

So I had this idea for a mod, it’d be similar to the Sync mod where you have clones that you can swap bodies with, but these clones could follow you around and you could give them commands while still being able to switch with them. As far as I know, no mod exists like this and I wanted to take a crack at making it myself.

How difficult is it to get into modding with essentially no experience?

can't wait for the eldritch spirit bossfights to be added, 1.21 occultism is peak (but it offers no more utility than other tech mods, the new dev has said they want to "make it an essential mod for any magic modpack" so i hope they make it worthwhile for big packs)

How does everyone know exactly what to do in every modpack?

Ive tried a lot of modpacks, but I always get overwhelmed with the amount of stuff to do. Sometimes I barely even know what to do. For example, mods like create with all of its addons are so overwhelming I can barely manage the first few hours.
