Possibly the best thing I've ever built, a galaxy/space nether hub.

Built this on a modded SMP I play on, with the help of a few people. TBH it's mostly vanilla blocks, only using clear glass from connected glass for the floor the player walks on, which gives the sense you're floating, and the stars are moonstone from Blue Skies.
The galaxy was made by converting an image of a galaxy into minecraft blocks using pixel stacker by Taylor Love, and then a schematicannon was used to place the blocks into the world. It's all placed in a cylinder about 200 blocks in diameter.

Is there a mod/plugin that makes it so when you “die” you don’t immediately die but instead stay in some stunned state
If I knew how to mod I imagine it would be somewhat easy to make.
For example, when a player "dies" or gets to below 1-3 hearts (depends what is able to implement), they are given some effects like blindness, weakness, slowness, nausea.
It's the same mechanic as survival/fps games where upon death you are in a weakened state but able to recover from another player revive.

Simple mods for kids
My kids are getting into Java MC and I'm learning about modding for them. We play on LAN.
My oldest (8) is pretty savvy with redstone and would like to start exploring more tech mods. He's got Ad Astra down. He can read.
We've enjoyed some casual modpacks like Bliss, but I'm finding that making the pack myself will meet their needs better.
My youngest (6), well, he really needs controller support, he loves building in creative, and having pet mobs.
But neither of them will benefit from mods that add too much complexity.
Everything JEI-like seems very confusing for them, and I don't wanna add TOO many new blocks.
I use the apathy mod to make survival a more chill experience, when they play it.
I've got a modpack right now based on Sodium Optimized with Alex's Mobs, Ad Astra, and the popular terrain expansions. It's a bit too heavy though, especially if I start adding tech.
I'd also love to find some kind of in-game skin changer that mimics Bedrock functionality. But nothing seems to play nice with other mods, or actually works for other players.
What would be a good starting place in terms of tech mods? My oldest has played a little Satisfactory. Create seems really cool, but also perhaps too complex?
