For Modpack Creators: Which mods eat performance?

After finding out that MC Eternal 2 released (that was not on my bingo card...) and seeing that Alex's Mobs was included, I got curious again about the performance issues with Citadel, its animation library.

It seems that any issues on its GitHub gets marked as completed but no comment or commit mentioned. Has anyone tested this for their own modpack?

And what other mods that you found that made performance take a hit?

For me, it was Every Compat (Wood Good). If you have all of Macaw's mods and a biome mod, changing resource packs makes the game hang forever, and boot up times go way up too. Although the creator explained it's not something that can be fixed - it's just generating so many variants that it eats performance.

Apotheosis enchantig bug or something

My apotheosis mod is giving strange stats for enchanting and i do tempo know the motive, the normal enchanting table for example only gives 1 eterna instead of two, and a common setup for deepshelf isnt letting me infuse it and all the other shelfs are nerfed and wacky, and it suck because makes some shelfs like the deepshelf almost impossible if not 100% impossible, i am in a modpack, but the only mods that are related to apotheosis is aphoteosis and aphotic atributtes

Modpack recommendations?

I've been bouncing from modpack to modpack for a while (and by that I mean, making my own, cause every other modpack has create and I don't like create) and Tinker's is still my favourite mod ever.


I think I've tinkered (lol) enough with making my own and I'd like to try a modpack that's integrated as opposed to one I make myself. I can tolerate Create, are there any recommendations you guys have? I'd love it for 1.20.1 since I love my sakura trees but 1.19 and 1.18 are fine, too.


Create is a soft no (I don't like it, but I can live with it).
Ars Noveau, Mystical agriculture and Iron's spells 'n spellbooks are a soft yes (like them, but can live without them).
Tinker's construct is my only must-have mod, since I love it


I prefer adventure and magic over tech and automatization. But like I said, I can tolerate it as long as it is an option and not a obstacle to progression. Who knows, maybe I'll even check and learn it as long as it's not mandatory.


Allthemods9 sounds good, but it also sounds like too much, it's ultimately what I'll try if I don't find something else.
