New to using shaders. Is this how things are supposed to look?. See attached image.

Playing ATM10TTS. When I enable shaders (any of those included with the pack or BSL) I see this.

blotches

Anyone know what's going on?

Best/most popular current modpack for a Minecraft veteran?

I know these questions maybe a bit repeated, but I guess I'm looking for something more specific to my case.

I first started playing Minecraft in January 2011, so it's been almost 15 years. At one point, I was really into Tekkit (during the peak of the Yogscast series), then I played some more mods like Voltz, FTB, and a space modpack that I can't remember the name of.

Now I'm looking to go back to modded Minecraft, but it's been years since I've last tried anything. So what are the new popular modpacks? I'm looking for something stable and regularly updated with a nice community and lots of players (if I decide to try multiplayer after a while). I'm mostly interested in tech and farming mods, but a bigger variety (like magic, alchemy, exploration, etc.) won't hurt. Not looking for a horror or hardcore experience, just something nice where I can build cool projects like automated farms, factories, etc.

TL;DR: What's the latest and greatest modpack that people are playing in 2025?

Looking to introduce my girlfriend to modded Minecraft. What packs would be good for a beginner?

I really love tech/automation but I think it would bore her to death so I'm hoping there's something out there that would allow us to compromise on that.

I'm not sure what types of mods she would like but it'd be nice to find something with a decent sprinkling of magic and exploration so she has a chance to try those, and anything else that might be suitable for a beginner. Bonus points if it has in-depth quest lines that allows her to learn the game on her own so she doesn't have to rely on me to explain how every mod works.

I got a LOT of free time - GTNH, Divine Journey 2 or Meatballcraft?

As a note, furthest I got in GTNH was steam age. So I wouldn't be too new to the pack (up till then). I only quit because a creeper came by and exploded my entire base, and then a second creeper (and I think a third) came by and destroyed all my items. I was pretty upset tbh. I spent like 100 or so hours to get there xD But I love the quest book and as someone who just graduated college (but back at home since cant find a job, looked for months and rents too expensive, had a few roommate but they all went back home too lol)...got a lot of free time. Like a lot. GTNH seems good for that.

But I've heard good things about Meatballcraft (which apparently is more of an RPG?) and DJ2 (which apparently is very linear?) as well.

Though I do only want to put time (for now) into one pack as my main pack. I play Homestead pack too, but its more a cozy/relaxing one for the side than a main pack for me.

But of the three, ignoring the GTNH meme that I see posted a lot...any I should focus on? I love tech and good quests. But all three have that anyway (as far as quests go)

Be real... Is GT:NH THAT good?

Hey all.

I've been following Minecraft since 2010 and was one of those kids who got multiple viruses on his laptop from trying to download Too Many Items for 1.7.3 from Softonic and played the original Tekkit when it came out. I've also been around since the beginning of Feed the Beast and have wonderful memories on Feed the Beast: Ultimate, and I currently have a small server with my friends on Enigmatica 10.

All of that being said, I also frequent this sub and New Horizons is absolutely everywhere. Truly everywhere. Half of the posts and comments are memes, but the sentiment is obviously real: that GT:NH is pretty much modded Minecraft's magnum opus.

Can y'all explain it to me like I'm 5? I understand the ages, and the progression is super specific, but spending upwards of 2000 hours on a pack seems insane. Hope I can gain some insight, and potentially get converted to a believer in it.
