REVIEW Technological Ascent (MC 1.20.1)
Within its category, TA is one of the best modpacks I've seen. The Missus and I loved it!
The category of packs we like to play is quest-driven, tech-heavy, combat-light or no-combat. Those are the kind of modpack I write Reddit reviews for. Nomifactory is a big name in that category. TA is not nearly as monumental and time-consuming, but it's also less grindy and (in my opinion) more fun. With just over 5K downloads, I feel it's underrated and deserves more coverage.
TA is a skyblock that starts with Botania, then Create, then Applied Energistics (!), ProjectE and then stuff like Thermal and Mekanism, and later Draconic and Avaritia. Interesting progression, but the author has made it work well. ProjectE and EMC commoditize just a small selection of resources, mostly ores, and this makes it useful rather than game-ruining.
The sequence of quests is very well thought-out. The quests lead you through the progression and you do well to follow those hints. Quests have meaningful and useful comments where appropriate but you're expected to be familiar with the mods (or willing to learn) and to apply some less known solutions. Up until almost the end, the curve is tolerable and you get a sense of accomplishment from getting stuff done.
The End Dragon needs to be killed, once and later 2 more times. The quest book leads you to some tools that make it easy even for senior citizens like us. Yes, there is a jet pack! Also, the Gaia Guardian, a few times. Other than that, violence is restricted to your mob farm.
The author claims it should be possible to complete the pack in 1-2 weeks. We took about 2 weeks to get to the 2nd last quest page and gave up most of the way through that. Things start to get a bit tougher there, as the endgame expects things to be crafted in huge quantities. Fair enough, but we chose to be lazy and punt. Better players will enjoy the challenge.
The author explicitly notes that this pack is intended for solo play. He doesn't provide a server download, obviously. But I'm happy to report that installing the Forge boot loader and copying the directories /mods, /config, /defaultconfig /kubejs and /libraries allowed me to start up a server instance. To share EMC points, I needed to add TeamProjectE to the mods. Easy-peasy if you're into that stuff.
Every quest was achievable, and we encountered 0 bugs, 0 crashes. The server ran uninterrupted for almost 2 weeks, which is rare in our experience.
Technically excellent, enjoyable play - thumbs up!

How do you get through early game in most modpacks?
I'm just curious how you get through the early game in modpacks. Whether it's a certain mod, habit, or whatever, doesn't matter, as long as it helps you get through early game.
I've never finished a modpack myself, but for me, it really helps to use FTB Ultimine or some sort of mod that lets you mine more than one block at a time. I find that I have the most fun when I can stop worrying about gathering resources and actually build machines.
Just wanting to start discussion, that's all :)

There's this mod called endless horizons which I want to use on Fabric 1.21.4 but it's newest version is Fabric 1.20.1 and I'm wondering if there's a way I can use it on 1.21.4, I have zero coding knowledge so updating myself is off the table

Less destructive parasite mod.
Me and a friend are currently playing and we want a mod similar to the parasite mod that isn't just pure destruction. The reason we won't use any of the others is they all feel like they need to be the pure focus. What we want is a parasite esq mod that has them grow over time and be something we have to worry about without it being one that destroys and replaces blocks.

Why is embers rekindled alchemy so difficult? (Reclamation modpack)
Hey guys, so I'm trying to figure this out. How can you understand Embers Rekindled? If an item stays on the alchemy pedestal, does that mean that it and the apparatus are correct? If they get eaten are they correct? The manual says that the glowing spots in the ash let you know what you got right but that number changed when I left two of the three items in the same spot with the same apparatus between two different experiments? How do I understand this? Thanks for the help!

simple mod that makes crossbows faster/ automatic
basically i want to have a sort of gun in the server but a gun mod changes the game too much imo so i wondered if there’s something like a mod with a automatic/ faster crossbow or one that adds more quick charge enchants or something like that.
