Is exploration and combat really a big draw of this game to enough people that it explains why it's a key part of almost every large pack, including tech-focused ones?

I've been playing minecraft on and off since before survival was a thing, and the biggest thing that pulls me back to it is the tech-focused modpacks. Unfortunately the vast majority of them have the same issue that puts me off every time - they rely on exploration and combat for progression. I started playing skyblocks to avoid that, but even there a lot of them have twilight forest or other dimensions that require proper exploration, or boss fights to get key progression gates. I recently was playing FTB Oceanblock 2 and loving it until I suddenly needed to go fight a bunch of stuff in the nether for progression, then glanced ahead in the quests and saw that it wouldn't be the last time I'd need to go exploring.

Are there really a large enough group of people who won't play a pack that doesn't mention new dimensions/bosses that it's worth chucking it in there even if it clashes with the overall theme of the pack?

modpacks that reward you for using multiple mods

I feel like the natural progression of Minecraft modded is learning to play with the different mechanics mods have and how they interact with each other. but I feel outside of expert style packs you are rarely rewarded for it. I feel if I make an ore generation farm using create, turn it into an industrial foregoing meat slurry and then process the slurry with mekanism I should get some sort of bonus. I know mod devs are getting away from the 2X, 3X, 5X ore philosophy, but by products can be a thing. I also realize pack/mod dev takes a lot of work, and most people are doing it for free, but it would be nice to see more cross mod interactions. although living through 1.7-1.12 (and create 6 more recently) when everything broke every time one mod updated their API, I also get why mod devs don't want to do that. if you could have a cross mod interaction what would it be? is there a cross mod interaction you don't like?
