PSA: Forge 1.20.1 now supports Java 25!

Java 25 was released recently, and a few hours ago, support for it was added to Forge 1.20.1, thanks to a PR by embeddedt.

1.20.1 uses Java 17 by default, so switching to Java 25 should improve performance overall (not just fps, but also stuff like loading times). There's also a feature called Compact Object Headers (has to be enabled with the -XX:+UseCompactObjectHeaders JVM argument), which lowers RAM usage. This can be useful in big packs like ATM9.

Java 25 is also supported on NeoForge 1.21.1, Fabric 1.14 - latest (though some mods on 1.16.5 and older won't work with Java newer than 8) and Cleanroom Loader 1.12.2. 1.7.10 will probably get it at some point as well via lwjgl3ify.

Is there a modpack where you ruin the world?

Factorio type things; remove trees en masse, turn grass to concrete, turn water to polluted green water

I imagine it'd have to have an incentive to do this, like mining being less effective or something so you have to extract resources from the surface irrecoverably and be forced to expand out and explore

I see a lot of modpacks around where the world is already ruined or is passively dying, but I can't find any where YOU are actively terraforming and destroying the ecosystem

I hope this doesn't count as promotion or anything, I'm not being paid, and I'm not affiliated with Prism launcher in any way.

I am now a trucker. I picked up MC when my son was like 6 years old... We enjoy playing together, and we really enjoy mod packs. Hell my son and I learned Minecraft on Sky factory 2.0.

I have a Minisforum UM690s in my truck. It's a Ryzen 7 system with 64 GB ram and a 1 TB MVNE. It runs mod packs like a charm as long as I don't play with shaders or max out render/sim distance.

I don't have Internet in the truck, and curseforge and FTB launchers recently updated how they sign into Xbox live and they don't allow offline play anymore.

Prism Launcher still does. Please don't change this!!! Curseforge changed this maybe 2 months ago.
