My problem with exploration QOL type mods

Ever since I've been playing modded mc, I've had this issue where I want to pick up a modpack for a while, download/create one with all the QOL mods I want like mini maps, world maps, distant horizons, or world gen mods like tectonic, terralith, or a biome mod, and then struggle to get into it? This happens to me almost every time, and the reason is because (personally) I get overwhelmed with the freedom of choice. It looks beautiful seeing 200 chunks in the distance, and its so nice to have a minimap with preloaded chunks, but then I find myself wandering around for 4 hours just looking at the minimap, expecting to see a perfect spot for a base that never comes. I think that without these mods (again, just personal opinion, the mods are great themselves.) I am forced to hunker down and start creating things at my own pace, and slowly morph an imperfect area into the ideal living space/base. When I can see every biome, mountain, and river, the game doesn't feel as small and personal. Even large scale world gen like tectonic can make any starter home or base feel too tiny compared to huge mountain ranges and thousand block wide plains. The experience is still very fun, but for a deep Minecraft playthrough, in my tastes, I think I'll start leaving these mods out. Anybody else feel this way?

What are the best modpacks with progression?

I had a Create: Above and Beyond server with a friend a couple years ago. I loved the progression system it had during that playthrough. For me, I struggle to just build for the sake of building, so having that sense of progression in Create Above and Beyond really helped me build with a feeling of purpose. Each building we made was helping progress us through the modpacks, being different automated farms and factories for the different items we needed.

Are there any more modpacks like above and beyond that are like this? I'm looking for one not 100% focused on automation, just some sort progression and maybe exploration and bosses?

What’s the actual bottleneck when preparing a modpack for release?

I’m trying to understand how different modpack creators handle the “final phase” before the release.

If you release packs regularly, I would love to hear:

What does your real pre-release checklist look like?
What slows you down the most?
What do you wish was less manual?

Thanks a lot ❤️

Making a custom modpack, how do I do endless 'Backrooms' style world generation?

Im making a custom modpack and I can't seem to find anything for how to easily make this kind of world generation. I wan't to make it so I have "tiles" that generate randomly, but some with higher rarity than others, and also ones that aways spawn in a grid formation.

The black squares would be chunks that repeat in that grid, but with mild variations between them. the white would be the other types. Thank you!

Need ideas for TWO faction concepts that aren’t just magic vs tech

I’m putting together a modded factions server for me and some friends and I’d like to build it around two factions, but I want to avoid the usual “magic vs tech” setup. I’m hoping to find two themes that feel distinct in terms of gameplay and progression, without needing anything overcomplicated or unrealistic for Minecraft. Basically, I want each side to have its own vibe, its own way of growing stronger, and maybe even different kinds of goals, rather than just the same playstyle with a different aesthetic.

If anyone has ideas for two factions that would contrast well — either through the mods they use, the way they advance, or the style of gameplay they encourage — I’d really appreciate the suggestions. Even loose concepts or mod combos are already super helpful.

Thanks!

Why do the generators not produce the power they claim to? 2 diamond gens @ 64RF/t each but energy cube is only getting 40RF/t

Stoneblock 4: Are Chickens and Fluid cows still broken?

I have played a ton of Stoneblock 2 back in the day (a bit of the Stoneblock 3 as well), and recently decided to try out the new Stoneblock 4. I remember the resource chickens being very broken, basically giving me an unlimited amount of resources with the right setup, which accelerated progression quite a lot. The same goes with fluid cows. This time, I want to take things a bit slower to explore different mods without rushing things.

So the question is. Are resource chickens and fluid cows still broken? Should I wait until mid-late game to get into making chicken farms, or did they get nerfed, and is it safe to get into them without breaking the progression?

Thanks
