Does anyone else struggle immensely to find a base location, just to eventually land on plains or somewhere flat cause it’s easier to build on…

Just started a fresh world and I’m trying to move out of my starter home faster this time and get to a a proper base earlier than normal, and I’ve wandered the few 1000 blocks around my spawn and nothing is really jumping out at me. A few really jaw dropping terrain features, but I just know that trying to set up a proper base on a jagged cliff is going to be a nightmare. I think I’m just gonna find a Savannah like always and get to it lol

Anyways, I’m sure many of you struggle with the same thing. Curious what some of your guys/girls strategies or criteria’s are when looking for a permanent base location!

Buffs clutter JEI window

I'm playing a TNP Limitless 7 modpack (1.20.1 Minecraft), and my buffs suddenly started to intrude on my JEI window. I think they weren't there before, not sure how I made them to appear in this place.

Any idea how to fix it? I don't like that it makes JEI to have less space for the items.

Hello Reddit, I'm interested in how I can open the 3D models of the mobs from the Mutant Monster 1.21.1 NeoForge mod in Blockbench. I'm not finding them as easily as in Cobblemon or Creeper Overhaul, I suppose because this mod is too old. I hope someone can help me.

RLCraft with non-abysmal execution

I’m looking for a modpack similar to RLcraft in concept - RPG, low questline/directions, low story, brutal difficulty, and lots of dungeons - that doesn’t have terrible execution that RLCraft suffers from. I’ve been looking for a modpack like this for incredibly long, and I’ve tried many packs such as legendary edition, but have been pretty unsuccessful. ATP I’m this close to making a RLCraft revamp but I’m pretty sure shivaxi would cry a river and sue me.

Most adventure packs that are like RLcraft seem to fall into the exact same pitfalls of a comically boring mid game and a very very unfun early game, either due to lack of structure density, extremely stupid choices for progression like villagers or crafting recipes that take 20 years to finish crafting or even farming.

Definitely doesn’t help that most of FTBs official packs feel like the exact same progression rebranded over and over. I’m looking for something with more of an old Minecrafty feel, similar to the old progression and style of stuff like crazy craft/orespawn but modernized with the benefit of new mods and good feedback. What the hell happened to all the good exploration and adventure packs?

Is it a coincidence that the Andesite Alloy from Create has the exact same shape as the alloys from Mekanism?

@MinecraftModded
genuinely what could I tell this man. what could possibly be simpler than Mekanism

https://preview.redd.it/ab2n1xy0i1bg1.png?width=1182&format=png&auto=webp&s=f3e796bda20fb2a4154a36a03af1b4c7180835be

you just put the shit down and plug it in. that's SIMPLER than create. what could even remotely be made simpler about Mekanism? I don't think it's even POSSIBLE for a tech mod to be more easy to understand than this. even redstone is more difficult to understand than Mekanism.

how do i change the collision of a block

@MinecraftModded
I’m sorry, Create, I tried so hard to work with you, but…Stoneblock 4

I was trying to automate soul sand to feed into my Unearther. So, I figured why not try the encased fan from Create to convert sand into soul sand. I swear it took me 45 minutes trying to get the dang thing to work. I was able to get the belt going in the right direction, I was able to get the fan to work, but for some reason, it just wouldn’t convert into soul sand!

I even looked up a video of someone doing it. I moved the fan and soul sand (with the blue fire) to be up against the belt, even one away from the belt. I tried using TWO fans, they didn’t even let out work… soul sand block supposed to be at the same height of the belt? That’s what it was at.

So, I gave up and went the Roost Ultimate chicken route, which took 5 minutes to automate lol.

We really need a better way to find good modpacks

It feels like there's no consistent way to find good modpacks. Your options are
\- Sort by popularity
\- Sort by downloads
\- Sort by new

I feel like, if curseforge had a rating system, or if we just had a better resource or even an option for most popular within the last few months, hot, trending, some kind of rubric or SOMETHING to go off of other than reddit suggestions... There has to be so many great modpacks out there that just haven't circulated.

The best proof of this is that to this day, one of the first modpacks you will encounter sorting by downloads or popularity, is RL craft. RL craft is, notoriously, not really a good modpack. Not well optimized, outdated, poorly balanced. It's youtuber bait basically.

Even though I've played modpacks for like 10 years, I don't know a ton about this, but if we had something new, or even just a user curated forum or list, I feel like it would encourage new modpacks and using newer mods, and some more creativity. I view modpacks as an avenue to create entirely new game modes and games, so I feel like the possibilities are endless. Does anyone know of a system or listing for better modpacks, and/or does anyone have ideas for starting one?
