I don't defend nor do I envy the position Lincoln was in having all his troops in the civil war and then having to then deal with genocidal white settlers in Minnesota kidnapping a community of over 300 people to execute them. Regardless of which side you think Lincoln was on, this wouldnt have happened if it wasnt for the genocidal white settlers and they bear the blame for the crime. This would become an event in history that Hitler and the Nazis would take influence from to carry out similar attacks on Jews and Slavic people. It would be an event that influenced Teddy Roosevelt to carry our similar attacks on the Cheyenne and other indigenous communities. We must remember this event and the suffering of the Dakota people.

At approx. 7 pm, police shot and killed a man in Minneapolis at Cedar Ave and 36th St E. Community members are gathering at the scene.
