Google wants to fix that by adding a new page for Quick Share in the Android setup wizard.

Google is testing a new placement for the Magic Compose button in Google Messages.

In this test, the button is above the message box instead of within it or to the side of it.

This placement makes a lot more sense and will hopefully reduce accidental presses!

Thanks to Joe Lenington for the tip!

Looks like Google is tweaking the icons in the YouTube Shorts player on Android.

The current icons (left) are fully filled in while only the outlines are filled in on the new icons (right).

Thanks to David Df for the tip!

If you rely on the Termux app on Android for anything and daily drive a OnePlus, OPPO, or Realme device, heads up: the OxygenOS 15/ColorOS 15 update seems to be killing off Termux processes, but only if you install the app from outside the Play Store.

It seems this issue doesn't happen if you install Termux from the Play Store, as the Play Store version uses a hack that seemingly doesn't get detected and thus its processes don't get killed off.

More details can be found in this Reddit thread.

In addition, there seems to be an ongoing issue with running Linux packages via PRoot, with users seeing a message that says a "malicious app" attempted to damage their phone.

The OxygenOS 15 beta hints that the OnePlus 12 supports Android's Powered Off Finding feature, which lets devices be located via Find My Device even if they're powered off!

OnePlus confirmed to me that it doesn't, though, but will the OnePlus 13?

Google has rebranded its Data Restore Tool app to Android Switch. There's also a new icon!

I'm normally not a fan of minimalist icons, but I think this one is quite clever: The blue bubbles change to green bubbles.

OnePlus says that OxygenOS 15 on its next flagship - ie. the OnePlus 13 - is nearly 20% smaller than OxygenOS 14 on the OnePlus 12.

How did they achieve that? One big contributor is a reduction in the size of the super partition. Here's what that means.

📱Android 15's virtual machine mandate is aimed at improving security

Many Android devices (notably Samsung ones) don't support the Android Virtualization Framework, but Android 15's vendor requirements could change that.

Here's why that matters.

Google's Quick Share app can finally be installed on Windows PCs powered by ARM64 processors, like the Snapdragon X Elite/Plus!

9to5Google reported on this change earlier today, and I can confirm that the Quick Share installer now works on my Yoga Slim 7X!

However, the Quick Share app itself is not ARM64-native and instead runs via emulation. In my experience, that hasn't been a problem, though.

🤘Android 16 won't require two fingers to pull down the new Quick Settings, after all

When I first discovered Android 16's new Quick Settings panel, the only way to access it was by using a two-finger pull down gesture.

Thankfully, that's gone. A video demo can be found in this article.
