Poem: Iman in Allah's Names and Attributes by Sh. Muhammad Ali Adam al-Ityubi رحمه الله
In this video, we present a translation & explanation of lines of couplets composed by the great scholar Muhammad Ali Ādam al-Ityūbi about having Iman in Allah's Names and Attributes. It is on the poetic scale of "Ar-Rajaz".

You would think being a teacher in both the Haram and a reputable educational institution in Makkah that in all of the places Sh. Muhammad Ali Adam al-Ityūbi رحمه الله could have lived, it would have been in a palace, mansion, or at the very least a nice building in a nice neighborhood, right?
Well, no. He lived here. With us. Literally across the street. When it rained, the streets were flooded. There are no gutters. Often times, the water supply of this whole strip was cut off due to a pipe or two that broke and flooded the streets. The chances of the electricity shutting off in the neighborhood on monthly basis were greater than students receiving their monthly stipend on time.
There was constant traffic and alot of people. But the Shaykh was not hidden away in some palace, no. He lived with the people and preferred it that way. When we talk about Zuhd (asceticism in that which is in your possession) & Wara' (abandoning the desire to obtain things not in your possession), we should know that he was really about that life, allahumma baarik. A wonderful example for Makkans...May Allah have mercy on him and grant him goodness for everything he taught us...

Some aspire to marry a student of knowledge thinking that it'll be the best time of their life...The reality is that being married to a student requires much patience and sacrifice.
Here is example related about the life of our Sh. Muhammad Ali Adam al-Ityūbi رحمه الله تعالى (with some personal additions).
The Shaykh غفر الله له would spend his mornings at work teaching at an Islamic institution in Makkah known as "Dar al-Hadith". When he reached home, he was known to take the mid-day nap after Dhuhr.
He would pray Asr in our local masjid then go home to work on his books. After praying maghrib, he would get ready to head to the Haram and teach after Esha, 5 days a week. He would work on his books even more on the weekends.
Which woman today is ready to be married to someone with this type of daily schedule?
One of the Shaykh's sons related a conversation that occurred between his parents at the time of Sh. Muhammad's illness عفا الله عنه.
He said to his wife of 9 kids, "Pardon me, I've exhausted you/tired you out; you were patient with my poverty and busyness." She replied حفظها الله, "What are you saying?! You've entered us into Jannah in this life before we enter it (in the Hereafter إن شاء الله)".
This legit made me cry...
May Allah reward her with good for taking care of our beloved Shaykh throughout his life and looking after his needs so as to serve the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم.
May Allah grant the wives of students - those who sacrificed a life of comfort and luxury for a life of knowledge and many many tests - the pleasure of seeing His Face in Paradise, Aameen Yaa Rabb.
