Elrond launches the new Virtual Machine, or better said VM's - as we now support 3 more engines

Elrond is built with security and speed in mind. We have shown transaction processing speeds of more than 50k TPS on our sharded architecture and a mature, fast VM is imperative to keep up with our protocol. Integrating WASM, a crucial component of the new decentralized web, is a step forward in achieving very high throughputs even for smart contracts transactions. The advantages of WASM don’t stop here: support for multiple languages, sandboxed environment, developed and maintained by major companies. Our super-fast, specialized adapter combined with the bare-boned WASM engines, have reached very high processing speeds.

Up until now Bitcoin has a total number of ~455,400,000 transactions processed since 2008 (10+ years)

But what I am most excited about today is that Elrond Network’s Golang implementation has exceeded 1,000,000,000 transactions in ~96 hours.

Notes on 1b claim **
-> 1b Cross-Shard transaction processed
-> Network Setup: 5 shards + Metachain
-> 1 consensus round missed on 96+ hours uptime (5s consensus round time)
-> no single crash reported
-> ~60% (dual core) CPU load and ~1GB RAM used on t3.medium instances
Also, about 48 hours ago we released Testnet-1016

First double sign shard attack

YES! First official double sign attack managed to halt the entire shardID 4 when of the validators tried to move his docker image to another host just about 10 minutes after genesis.

This happened in one of the first Cosmos GoS (Game of Stakes) versions, when one of the validators has double signed (two machines with same key have signed two different blocks at same height), and yes, GoS halted too!
Yesterday was our turn, and we learned our lesson too.

Besides that here’s some insights:
-> 211 validator nodes participating in this testnet release
-> deployed a hot-fix patch with the community to unfreeze the halted shard 4 after double sign incident
-> 20,000,000 txs executed and around 22,266 blocks proposed on each shard.

The dedication @ElrondNetwork’s team is beyond imagination.

Elrond Q3 Report

Main points:
Tech — Technical development is going very well. We’ve Implemented state sharding and Secure proof of stake. Several VM’s are integrated and we’ve reached unprecedented results for smart contract transactions. We continue to push on this front, and are excited to be on track for launching mainnet targeted for December

Validators & dev — Number of validators have been growing steadily in preparation for the Battle of Nodes competition, first economics proposal has been presented, and staking calculator released by the community. Several dev tools have been in the works, and will be released in the coming weeks

Biz — We secured 9 partnerships with relevant crypto projects, like Chainlink and Holochain, and blockchain alliances, like IoT Alliance & Binance Chain Alliance. Additionally we have been working with a few large renowned enterprises on some substantial collaborations we intend to announce in the coming period

PR & Exposure — Elrond has increased presence at the top blockchain events, strengthened its reputation, and has been featured in top technical and crypto press outlets

Community — Elrond has seen significant growth on all relevant community channels, with tens of extremely passionate members going the extra mile, and supporting Elrond on all fronts — big shoutout to them

dApp — The first dApp built on a sharded architecture called CryptoBubbles.io has been very well received by the community. We had several gaming tournaments, and will continue to do others in preparation for the mainnet when the game will be played with real money
