EXPANDING YOUR PASSPORT OPTIONS...
For any families interested in Birthing in Mexico, here’s a rundown on what I’ve learned so far. (Haven’t done it, just researching and speaking to other families that have done Birth Tourism).
Your baby will become a passport holder instantly in Mexico. Parents and siblings (and future siblings) fast track to permanent residency. Baby’s Passport can be settled in 1-2 weeks after birth, even during Covid times. For Perm Residency, your family needs to be sticking around Mexico for 6-8 months to settle that. But you can leave after birth and come back any time to start that process.
Here’s one blog from a woman who had a scheduled c section in MX, costs, process, etc. https://annaeverywhere.com/giving-birth-in-mexico/ (Really good technical info on passport process).
For natural birth or home birth, Mexico has many more affordable options. Salud Primal in PDC is a great example. Higher end birth centre. English speaking. Working with their midwife for a home birth, (with water birth option) is about $1500USD. Or you can schedule to deliver in their private birth center for the same price. They have midwives, OBs, nurses, paediatricians. Ability to do ultrasounds, prenatal and postnatal services for $30USD per appointment. So that’s just one example for those wanting more natural birth options.
I haven’t been able to confirm the rules around standard vaccines for babies. In one blog it states that baby must have some standard vaccines (mmr, hepB, etc) in order for parents to apply/acquire their permanent residency. 😑 But I haven’t read that everywhere. In any case, if true, that’s very unfortunate and would rule out residency application for me.

Canada is so far behind...
“A Humanized Birth Center” located in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Salud Primal.
https://www.saludprimal.com/en/
A birth centre with these options, support, and staff does not exist in Canada. And this is just one of many Natural Birth Centres in Mexico. It represents how far ahead other countries are in offering humane health services. Led by professionals with integrity, intention, and a noble purpose at its core. 500+ births.
I’ve been in contact with a MidWife there and hope to speak with someone soon who has birthed with them.

Despite my deep desire to homestead in Canada, investing in land or an acreage (in a peak market), with massive inflation/deflation/stagflation/tyranny/whoknows on the way...well...in the past three years, I was never able to whole-heartedly dive-in and get that huge mortgage. Mortgages make me very uncomfortable. I think we’ve all become too comfortable with them and the culture of usury.
Over the years, the hesitation to BUY has made me feel so stuck, weak, and indecisive. But ultimately, it was always just caution and discernment, it was never stagnation. The timing wasn’t right for me. Maybe there will be another chance in a decade....?

Policy from the realm of Private Jetting. Weak.
It’s a game of telephone. Lots of companies post the policy because they think it’s official. When it’s not.
It would only take a couple of carriers to say no, and all private and int’l carriers would see there’s options beyond compliance.
