Natalie experienced spam attacks from certain groups, she has been struggling to keep up with response. At the time I've disabled certain modules that handles messages. For now, spamwatch and among of other modules are back in.

However, I've decided to block natalie from working in groups where she isn't an admin. The reason is due to bot is unable to work as non-admin and there are certain modules that requires an admin rights to work properly. Given that fact she is made for group management. People added her as non-admin for entertainment purpose instead of giving her serious tasks such as admin duties, if you are going to use natalie just for entertainment purposes. Please do not consider using her as non-admin. Feel free to consider alternative solution.

So now I hope she is back to normal. Do not hesitate to report spammers in @NatalieSupport.

We're currently testing a solution to combat all the spammers Natalie has. You might have noticed the bot slows down from around ~2PM GST to ~4PM GST. To combat this Natalie will automatically restrict some users who use too many commands in a short amount of time.

The restriction has a variable amount of time, small bursts of excessive use of commands will make people restricted for a bit while continuous spamming will result in longer restriction periods.

If you can't use commands this is the reason why, please understand that we want to give a fairly responsive bot to our users and this is a solution we're currently testing.

- Added support for text mention in filters.
- Adjusted anti-spam timings, this should make bot more responsive.

- New spam flood status included in /info to determine user's status whether they are blocked due to spam or not. ❄️ Is not blocked and 🔥 is blocked. If you get fire in spam flood ratings, don't panic you will get unblocked automatically. Do not spam messages during the period and constantly spamming will cause block to be extended further.

Many of you asked for connection feature in Natalie, This was a long-overdue feature that has a higher demand.

Now you can configure your group through the private message, read /helpconnect to find out more information and commands that are supported for connection.

- Updated language strings (let us know if you found an error in translation).
- Dropping Arabic translation, no progress was made.
- Some performance enhancement.
- Fixed a bug in /privatenotes on del where users will receive a warning if the bot isn't started.
- Fixed issues in welcome message where /welcome isn't showing text in /welcome noformat
New lock types:
- button, can auto delete messages sent with buttons
- inline, can auto delete messages sent using inline bot
- new /closeall command to mark all opened case as solved in the chat.
- fixed small errors in /welcome where welcome doesn't send for plain text.
- added reason in reports if reason is used it will log in bot pm and log channel.
- added Turkish 🇹🇷 translation (special thanks to @Shiroikun and @Engin_altan_yanyatan)

New anti-Flood modes
Previously there was only 3 type of modes which are tmute, ban and mute. New anti-Flood system comes with Warns, yes warns, that's right you heard it, kick and tban. Modes can be changed with new /floodmode command. Currently defaults returns with permanent mute. Don't like having default reason? Set your own flood reason using /setfloodreason.

As follows:
- admin cache improvement, if you promote an admin manually, remember to do /admincache refresh admin list in the chat otherwise promote the new admin using /promote command.

New stickers feature
- now you can delete your sticker using Natalie simply by sending a sticker and reply to it using /dkang or /delkang. She will delete a particular sticker added by you. You no longer have to do it manually using @stickers bot to delete a sticker.
- block certain sticker packs in your chat using /banpack command, check out /help stickers to find out the list of full available commands. choose varieties of modes using /packmode warn, mute etc.. to take action upon user against the usage of a sticker that was banned.

New filters
- filters now support with captions, buttons in multimedia except for Stickers and Video Notes. Previously saved filters may behave the same as previously unless re-saved with captions/buttons along with the multimedia. It will behave same as the notes.

As follows:
- fun /dice or /roll command
- improved AFK, now she mentions you in PM whoever tags you in a group with Natalie.
- some minor changes in translations.
- added compatibility for video note message.
- fixed {rules} for welcome, filters and notes.
- minor bug fixes.

Hercules is currently unavailable, the servers were crashed in process of update. He wouldn't be online for at least a day. I would encourage you to use @Maver_ckBot in mean time. If you have used Natalie previously in your chat with Hercules your data may still be intact.

Hercules is back online. However, We have lost almost every data in Hercules and are unable to recover it due to database failures.

We do not have a backup on Hercules since he is running on a small server, capabilities of server are unavailable to provide periodic backups.

Telegram servers are experiencing downtime, means Natalie may not respond to commands for meantime. I'm closely monitoring the issue.

Edit: Everything is resumed to normal.

Natalie milestone

In less than 4 months as the previous milestone, Natalie gained 19,006 chats with over 1.3m users currently. I'm glad that many of you are using her in your groups.

Her growth pace is unexpectedly faster than I thought. As a result of this Natalie will have newly rewritten version in under the hood over the next period of weeks. You may also notice she will be snappier in responding to commands. Hopefully, the new codes will able to meet the demands of a large number of chats.

Apologies for performance struggles recently, as part of improvement and rewriting under the hood code caused some abuse of CPU usage. I'm still monitoring the cause.

The Anti-spam algorithm is still new and learning on how to handle excess abuse of commands, spam-sending messages etc. It will take a while for Natalie to get used. She might, however, get little slowish when spam raids occur, eventually she will return to normal itself.

In this update it is the first chapter of new base code and the existing features may or may not work with the new base code, However feel free to report the issue and we will look into it.

The change logs are:

- welcome media should now work without captions. As previously there are some incompatibility issue. (yes, you can now use with video note as well)

I've received reports that she was blocking users randomly out of blue for sending commands. This issue was apparently fixed recently. I have investigated the cause thoroughly and therefore, this shouldn't happen again..

As recently I have noticed Natalie was significantly delaying to send replies to users, apparently the issue was related to antispam system it was unable to handle such large numbers of messages at the same time. As she is currently having over 21k chats with millions of users.

As much I want to give my maximum efforts to push the limits that Python has. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite successful and the rewritten codes sort of acting up with outgoing/incoming messages. However my only last resort is to upgrade the servers to handle large numbers of requests from telegram's bot API. Due to insufficient in financial cause I may choose to stay in current servers until there's alternative solutions to the issue.

Edit: nvm. I fixed the bug in antispam.

I've decided to turn off flood status message that issues warnings to users when command is spammed. As I noticed this can be annoying to some users however from now on if you spam commands in short burst Natalie will silently block you temporarily from using commands.

On other hand I added some small commands like /sban, /smute etc commands starting with s is quiet. And /dban, /dmute etc commands starting with d is deletion of replied message.

There have been some improvements to bot's rate limit system, this caused some issues with antiflood system. Antiflood might not work stable, until then Natalie will perform normally during peak hours.

I will try to find some solutions to this group antiflood issue at a point later.

Natalie Update

It has been almost a week the bot ran little better, I have decided to upgrade the servers at least to better ones for while. While the upgrades may not yet be significant to many users however it can provide responsiveness during peak hours cause of additional cores and rams are needed.

Natalie is a free service and doesn’t depend on donation. She is wholly funded by me personally and therefore having with nearly 2 million active users monthly is quite difficult in my capabilities to handle that much of users. She gets at least over 250+ approximately messages every seconds and that is beyond capacity the server offers, with much of optimisations, anti-spam control, and banning bot abusers kept up the performance in such small server. In future I might however think of making a significant upgrades to accommodate millions more users.

The admins at Natalie values the privacy and data of user in an utmost manner, We cannot relay on advertisers, investment from external sources to fund our servers. Therefore think twice before abusing the bot for no reasons and other users may also as well get affected.
