↟ Disablot/Dísablót - en högtid som uppmärksammas nu under vinterhalvåret här i Skandinavien där man visar vördnad inför våren, att försäkra en god bördighet och skörd inför det kommande året. Flera gudar äras, främst Diserna - kvinnliga ödesgudinnor i vår Nordiska mytologi, som kan vara både välvilliga och ondskefulla. Diser finns för till exempel natten, vinden och regnet - Skaðe associeras ibland med vinterdisen.

The history of the archery in the Nordic countries dates back to the Stone Age ( 13000 - 1700 BC ) and the oldest archaeological find is approximately 9,000 years old - found in Holmegård, Denmark.
In Scandinavia there are several finds of archs from the Iron Age and the Viking Age: Norway ( Veiem, Torshov ) and Sweden ( Åsby, Bredmossen, Sigtuna ). Also in Finland ( Paltamo, Kärsämäki ). Most of these specimens were made as longbows with wood of Elm and Fir.
Images of people hunting with bows can be found on rock carvings, you can find such an example from the Bronze Age in Vitlycke - Tanum World Heritage, Sweden.
Go outside and come back home to nature 🌲

↟ Vingsted Järnålder är ett friluftsmuseum beläget väster om Vejle, Danmark 🇩🇰
Här har man bevarat och tillvaratagit äldre kulturminnen på platsen från järnåldern ( 500 f Kr–1050 e Kr. ) En rekonstruerad järnåldersmiljö med hus, ägor, åkrar, smedja, offerställe samt levande boskap.
Under järnåldern byggdes gårdarna inhägnade av ett staket med flera hus intill ett större bostadshus. Dessa hus användes till olika saker så som en smedja eller en vävstuga, det fanns ofta även en grävd brunn i nära anslutning till det större bostadshuset på gården.

❄️ Animals have always been close to us and also back in time, very important for our survival of the harsh seasons in the North. During winter, the cattle stayed inside our houses to maintain warmth for both us and them.
❄ Dogs and cows were particularly important in the everyday life in Scandinavia. In the past, people took their cattle out into the woods to feed. But it was not risk-free. There were plenty of predators like bears and wolves in the forests, which could attack the cattle.
❄ To protect the cattle, they had the dog by their side. In the 1870s there was a big breed of a dog in Sweden called the Dalbo dog - it had a great sharpness against predators, and wolves in particular... - continuing in comment below ⬇️

Floran och faunan i detta område är unik tack vare den höga luftfuktigheten som forsen som är en del av Indalsälven skapar - här frodas sällsynta växter och djur. Unika rödlistade lavar samt mossor gör att skogen får en sagolik karaktär, även nu under vinterhalvåret. Vattenfallet är omgett av tät urskog av stora uråldriga granar där den sällsynta rasen av skalbaggar s.k. "kortvingar" frodas.

↟ Norrsken - Aurora Borealis 🌌
Ett relativt vanligt himlafenomen som uppstår när elektriskt laddade partiklar ( elektroner ) från solen förflyttas med solvindar till jordens atmosfär. Där kolliderar de med gaspartiklar och förses med extra energi som sedan sprids ut i dramatiska formationer. Norrsken kan utspela sig i olika färger som i till exempel gulgrönt, karminrött, violett och blått. Det som avgör vilken färg norrskenet har beror på vilken höjd elektronerna kolliderar med jordens magnetosfär.
Norrsken uppstår oftast runt polarcirklarna och här i Norden på höga latituder, förra helgen utspelade det sig över hela Sverige. I Nordisk mytologi anses norrskenet vara ljuset från Valkyriornas sköldar och rustningar när de ledde fallna krigare till Valhalla och Oden.

The North, The land and the people beyond the Northern Wind, Thule, Hyperborea - Scandinavia has since ancient times been mythical and unexplored.
❄ Scandinavians was first mentioned by the greek historian Herodotos, who writes about Aristeas - a poet who lived 700BC. He told he had ventured the North which he called Hyperborea, and met the people who he called "Hyperboreans" or "The people North of the northern Wind". This people describes to be quite tall with light skin and often with blonde hair. They lived with harsh winters and decended from the northern wind itself, and are identified as today's native Scandinavians.
