I'm working on an improved version of ishare2 which will include md5 and sha1 integrity checks. I'm testing this on the beta branch, please don't use it until further notice, I broke it lol

A new batch of images was released yesterday thanks to our friend Lua :)
The new images are available on the new release of automated indexes that I just pushed 15 minutes ago.
You can test the dev branch by running:

🚀 Today I merged the dev branch of ishare2-org/ishare2-cli.
It includes all features mentioned in this message.
ℹ️ The new version uses a new index structure.
📁 Old JSON sources will be deleted in a week, so please migrate ASAP.
🗑 Deletion of old indexes will happen in 7 days from ishare2-org/mirrors; the dev branch is not merged to main there yet.

TL;DR:
- PNETLab is deprecated and uses outdated, vulnerable software.
- You can still use it, but only in a secure, isolated environment.
- Switch to EVE-NG, GNS3, or other supported tools for better security.
- ishare2 will drop PNETLab-specific features over time.
Many of you have attempted to install PNETLab v6 and encountered issues installing the PHP 7.2 dependency. This is due to the removal of the backport repositories that PNETLab relied on are no longer available.
If you do manage to install any version from 4 to 6, understand that you're exposing yourself to significant security risks. These risks are not due to any malicious code or backdoors from the PNETLab team, but rather because PNETLab depends on outdated libraries and software components full of known vulnerabilities.
If you're still using PNETLab, make sure to isolate it properly; either behind a firewall or in a secure, isolated environment.
I strongly recommend migrating to actively maintained alternatives such as EVE-NG, GNS3, or other modern emulation platforms.
🛠 As for ishare2, while it was originally designed with PNETLab users in mind, I will begin phasing out PNETLab-specific features. Instead, these will be converted into help articles to support historical usage. The future of ishare2 is platform-independent, focusing on broader emulator compatibility and long-term stability.

As you know, Pnetlab 6 previously needed a backported version of PHP 7.2 to run on Ubuntu 20.04, but that version is no longer available.
Thanks to @Mehrzadmo, we now have a community-patched version that works with PHP 7.4, which is natively supported on Ubuntu 20.04. You can install it using:

As I’m helping facilitate this patched version, I feel it’s important to be transparent about the risks. Please understand that everything on LabHub comes with no guarantees - including image files, which are not vetted.
While it’s generally fine to run Pnetlab on your LAN, you need to be especially cautious if:
- You're running it on a cloud platform (e.g., GCP)
- You're exposing it to the public internet
- You're sharing access with students or colleagues
Ubuntu 20.04 has reached end-of-life, and several components used by Pnetlab are no longer actively maintained. This increases the risk of unpatched vulnerabilities.
If you still choose to use this version:
- Isolate it from the public internet
- Restrict access to trusted users only
My advice remains the same: use actively maintained software, especially in production or enterprise environments.

Hello guys,
I have some bad news: the main mirror, labhub.eu.org, will be retired. This is because Microsoft won't renew the Developer E5 subnoscription I'm currently using.
The secondary mirror, drive.labhub.eu.org, will stay active, but you might face the quota issues we've seen before.
If you have a developer E5 account and would like to use it to support the project, please get in touch.
In the meantime, I'll look for different solutions but can't promise anything.

The Goal: Raise $100 USD each year to cover our OneDrive subnoscription costs.
How: I plan to set up a fundraiser on a platform like Buy Me a Coffee.
Contributions: Every little bit helps! Any contribution amount, big or small, adds up to help us reach the goal.
Attribution (Optional): We would offer all donors the option to be credited on the LabHub website.
This is completely optional. You would remain anonymous by default.
We could also have a "Sponsor" section for any organizations that prefer to have their name displayed.
This is just the initial draft idea. I'd love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or suggestions in the comments :)
